What Parents Say
THE CHILDREN'S PRE-SCHOOL CENTER receives overwhelmingly positive reviews praising dedicated teachers, low teacher-to-child ratios, outdoor activities, and strong parent communication. However, one review raises serious concerns about past incidents of child abuse, inappropriate discipline, loss of NAEYC accreditation, staff credentialing issues, and high teacher turnover.
My 1 year old goes to CPSC is an amazing school! Kids get plenty of outdoor time, they have very low teacher children ratio. The teachers are so kind and dedicated. The snacks provided by the school are very healthy, most of the children bring their own lunch but they also offer lunch menu. I love that the school is very open and makes it easier to transition a kid from home to school. I spent 2 days transitioning where I spent 2 hours at the school with my daughter. I love that I get a report at the end of the day and that teachers are in constant contact with parents and send pictures.
I cannot speak highly enough of this school and (especially) its teachers! I love how the teachers talk to the kids like they *matter* and that their feelings are real, even in the baby rooms when the kids aren't talking yet. We love hearing the stories at the end of the day and getting mid-day updates of the creative and engaging activities (toddlers putting strings and scarfs in tubes, preschoolers making a train out of huge blocks, babies exploring a low bridge). The teachers are really in there playing with the kids and fostering the play that is interesting for them and developmentally relevant (not prescribing particular things). There's also something nice about being part of a non-profit center; it feels community oriented and a little more personal. We love CPSC!
We love CPSC! We decided to send our son here because so many of our friends’ children attended and loved it. It’s a loving environment with curriculum-based learning and just the best teachers. We are better parents because of the advice and community that CPSC provides.
Run away, do not just walk away! This establishment has allowed multiple incidents of child abuse, including alleged "inappropriate touching", and inappropriate child discipline (e.g. denying food to toddlers in order to punish them!), for which they rightfully lost their NAEYC accreditation not too long ago! The directors either deflect or invent weak excuses when complaints about teachers' unprofessional behavior are brought to their attention and their core competence seems to be in orchestrating cover-ups and then making big empty shows of "taking action" when the issues cannot be contained anymore. Contrary to what some other reviewers have posted here long time ago, right now several supposedly "key teachers" lack the proper education and credentials and regularly misuse grammar and vocabulary, which results in the need to correct the child's "education" at home. That is, if you are able to tell who the "key teachers" actually are, because it seems that there is a revolving door of temps and substitutes from agencies known and unknown. Our girls, ages 2 and 4, have excelled here with the caring teachers and close-knit community of families.
