When we toured Shining light, I was very upfront about my concerns, questions, and my child's behavior(he can be difficult). I was assured of things and given information that was untrue. His first week went well, and then after that he started exhibiting concerning behaviors we hadn't seen previously (hitting, extreme obstinance, etc). The teachers were unable to manage him, and even sent him home once for "sucking on his big toe at nap time." This incident led to a discussion that uncovered these behaviors were common in the daycare. My husband and I personally witnessed escalating behaviors that were literally laughed at by the teachers. We scheduled a meeting and were told (upon request), that assessments would be made and more help brought in. A death in the family occurred, so we were unable to attend the meeting. The next day we were scheduled to be in, we received a message that our son would no longer be allowed to attend. They did not follow the daycares policy for dismissal of a student.
