Amazing place for youth, they're very accepting and have different groups for different things/needs, they helped me when my aunt kicked me out and I've been receiving help ever since <3
Amazing people doing great things for homeless youth. You'd think housing for minors, including LGBTQ youth, would be enough. But unlike so many organizations they don't abandon youth when they turn 18. The Center for Youth provides housing assistance and guidance for young adults 18 to 21. They can use your support to help young people grow in a supportive environment.
I was in a pickle and had transportation issues with going to see my probation officer. I felt hopeless, scared and had no idea what I was going to do. My probation officer told me to go to the youth center and I might be able to get a bus pass. I went there on a whim and hoping for the best, I spoke with a counselor named Melissa. She told me they do not give out bus passes however she was kind enough to give me a one time courtesy and gave me one. Words cannot describe how thankful I was, I was able to make it to my meeting with probation. Without her I would of been in trouble. In addition to this I was told they offer a variety of services to the public. I advise everyone to go here and see how they can help you with housing, resume building etc.
Thank you Center For Youth for helping me when I needed it most. When I suffered depression; I met with my counselor who provided therapy until I was linked to a therapist. When I was homeless, I was able to move in the Chrysalis house for 3-6 months until I found my apt. When I moved out, I was without food and Center For Youth helped me with food and a coat. When I needed help with finding a job, Center For Youth helped me with a resume. When I needed a bus pass, Center For Youth helped me. When I needed to get away from my apt, Center For Youth let me stay at the center until closing. I was able to go on the computer, talk to staff, etc. I am so grateful for the amount of assistance I received.
I can't give a thumbs up to most of the agencies operating in the area, EXCEPT The Center For Youth - TWO thumbs up! They are stellar with an excellent reputation and a steadfast commitment to youth. This is an agency you can believe in and is worthy of supporting.
