The Amherst Preschool

I wasn’t a child that went to preschool, I stayed at home with my mother and older siblings. I remember when I was older in elementary school my friends would often talk about the preschools they had attended and I would always feel like I had missed out on the whole experience! Fast forward 30 years….When I first met Miss Ellen and saw what she had created for the children, I was instantly reminded of my younger self’s feelings about preschool and knew this program would create confidence in my son and boy did it ever. From learning how to put his own outside gear on to having a ball in the woods, my son really learned to love the outdoors and was able to be himself, a child. TAP taught him to be self reliant, inquisitive about things he didn’t know about and most of all, how to have fun as a child with outdoor led playtime in preschool. I will always be so thankful that I was introduced to TAP and will remember all of the fun memories made. More importantly, my son will as well and hopefully will be thankful one day about being able to attend TAP for his early childhood days. Thank you to all the great teachers, helpers and Miss Ellen for creating such a wonderful place for kids to be kids.

The Amherst Preschool is an amazing and magical place where children are supported and guided to reach their fullest potential. From the moment we walked in to visit 5 years ago, we knew this lovely little school was a perfect fit for our family ❤️ There is so much love and kindness bursting from the doors here that will make any child feel welcome and thrive. Children are outdoors ALOT, they get messy, learn how to be a good friend and have so much fun!! The world needs more schools like TAP and more teachers like those that support our children in this special little place that we will always love!!

The Amherst Preschool is simply the best program in the area. I have 4 children with very different personalities, strengths and weaknesses, and all 4 thrived at TAP. They developed not only academic skills, but also developed socially and emotionally during their time at TAP, and all this happened through the nurturing and guidance of the incredible staff at the school. Each child is treated individually and allowed to develop at their own time, often times not even aware they are learning. The children are encouraged to problem solve, be leaders, and most importantly they are reminded that kindness is of utmost importance. They spend many hours outdoors through all seasons and all weather conditions, and allow the children to be kids and learn through their creativity and play. I could not have asked for a better preschool experience for my children, and will always cherish our time at TAP.

We were so lucky to find this amazing preschool for 2 of our children. It is such a special place where children can learn and explore. The director and staff are very knowledgeable about early childhood education. Their philosophy magically blends learning and play allowing children to gain confidence, independence and the social skills needed for healthy physical and emotional growth. If you are looking for 3-4 year old pre-school in this area I highly recommend you visit TAP.

Simply the best preschool experience I could have asked for. My two children have gone here and never resisted a drop off. They have grown in confidence and other social-emotional skills. The owner and lead teacher is a defender of play and outdoor experiences, but don't let that fool you into believing that nothing is being taught or learned, because there is no question that a love of learning is established by this approach. I'm so grateful we are part if this school and recommend it without reservation.
