My child currently is enrolled in the Tender Care on Baum Blvd. Sharing my experience, after two months of my child’s teacher Natalia never once greeting him (I mean this lady has never once greeted my four year old since he started coming). I finally got frustrated and spoke with the director Jasmine voiced my concerns and feelings and was assured that my baby would be greeted when he arrived. The following day that did not happen I, then myself decided to say something to Natalia myself. I have audio of the incident and it lead to me being threatened by her “friend” “former co-worker”. Fast forward to last week when my child came out while in the classroom “I don’t like Natalia I said “I don’t neither but it’s going to be ok because you have your other teacher” the new teacher since the one who threatened me was terminated. I received a call from Jasmine’s about what my four year old said and what I said. TODAY FEBRUARY 2, 2026 upon dropping my son off he was greeted by two teachers and not Natalia. 30 seconds later Ava was greeted by Natalia which made me very upset and I asked the teacher if she noticed what just happened and she put her head down and said yes. Jenny the assistant director has witnessed for herself Natalia not speaking to my child during drop off… Jasmine the director said that’s not her personality 😔. I went above Jasmine to speak with her supervisor Stephanie and let’s just say if I post the recording on social media she probably wouldn’t have a job… I would love to send my video of how STEPHANIE HANDLED ME AS A PARENT COMPLAINING ABOUT A DAYCARE TEACHER WHO DOES NOT GREET MY CHILD UPON ARRIVAL

We have been sending our daughter since she was eight months old and have loved being part of the Shadyside family. Every teacher she has had has been caring and helped her grow into the special little human she is today. From early solids to potty training to learning to spell her name, they have helped through many major milestones. We also love the directors here - Jenny & Jasmine are welcoming, care for every kid, and put on fun special events the kids can’t stop talking about. Every daycare comes with injuries, illnesses, biting, etc, but we have always felt like this facility dealt with those common problems with care and consideration.

I've also had both my kids here since infancy. Now 4 and almost 2, I feel sad that graduation from tender care is on the horizon! I adore the teachers and management. I have never had an issue. On the contrary, I recommend them to all my expectant friends. And the reality is that when kids get teeth and are learning language, sometimes bites happen. Props to tender care for not guaranteeing something they had no way to guarantee!! The teachers are great, and go to great lengths to ensure the safety of our children. If you want your kid to live in a bubble, stay at home with them. But will they learn sign language, letters, colors, and shapes by the age of two?? This is a SCHOOL, my children are smarter because of them, and I'm behind them 100%!!

This is an excellent daycare. I have both my children there, and so have experience in with all the rooms. The teachers are very caring, and the kids get lots of hugs and kisses. They teach children responsibility, but are understanding of all kinds of personalities and needs. They help with potty training, and happily accommodate idiosyncracies of parents, whether in regard to food and snacks, cloth or disposable diapers, and even letting parents hang out with the kid while their child becomes accustomed to daycare, as our son needed. I also appreciate the play-based approach to learning in the older years (pre-school and pre-k). As for bites and injuries: they happen. Kids go through stages, and "suspension" is not an appropriate response at that age, nor can any daycare guarantee that it wouldn't happen again. (In fact, if I had learnt that Tender Care was removing children because of things like biting, then *I* would've removed my child because it would've shown that the management was not aware of appropriate responses to normal childhood behaviour!) The only reason I give this daycare 4 stars instead of 5 is because the facilities are small. For most ages this isn't a problem, but by the time the kids get to the older classrooms they just don't have enough space to really run around. The teachers do a great job with the resources and facilities they have, but a larger space would really help Tender Care shine.
