Society is defined by local vibrant points of light like this one. Sunrise School has stood the test of time. I attended first grade here when my father served in Vietnam from 1967 through 1968. In the intervening years, our family has lived in dozens of communities around the nation and the world. As a Marine Corps brat, and then an active duty Army officer for 25 years I haven't seen it all, but I've seen a lot. I believe R-IX district residents are incredibly blessed to call Sunrise their own. It is reassuring to see when our tax dollars are doing something good.
I frequently have to drop off and pick up my grandson who attends Sunrise. They are very organized in moving the lines of cars while protecting the students. I really appreciate the helpfulness of the staff, the teachers and the administration.
I am a 64 year old from Crystal City. I know nothing about your school other than being there for a basketball tournament. I'd just like to say that I was impressed with your gymnasium and your kids working the concession stand. The gym was very nice and easy for an older person to get around in. As a far as the kids, they were very ambitious, eager to help, friendly, and on top of things. It was very nice to see such well-mannered, courteous individuals. You should be proud!
