Sunflower Creative Arts was truly life-changing for my family. My children and I attended Sunflower starting in 2015 for five years, and not only did my children grow from their programs—I grew as a parent. As a brand-new parent, Sunflower became my village. Through their parent toolbox meetings, I learned practical tools that I still use today with my now 13- and 10-year-olds. My children learned to treat peers and adults with respect and inclusivity. They developed strong social-emotional skills that have supported them throughout childhood and now as they enter adolescence. Sunflower nurtured their confidence, agency, and independence in a way that most schools simply don’t prioritize. The program allows children to choose what they want to do—whether indoors or outdoors—and engage freely for as long as they need. Sunflower protects the best parts of childhood: long hours of outdoor play, endless art materials, meaningful exploration and experimentation, and the time and freedom to explore. In a world that often limits children, Sunflower gives them exactly what they need. The staff were incredibly supportive, warm, and welcoming to both me and my kids. Many of the same wonderful teachers are still there today, and my children still come back to visit them. I am forever grateful for Sunflower Creative Arts. It shaped my children—and me—in the best ways. Highly recommend to any family looking for a nurturing, play-based environment that honors childhood.

Sunflower is my absolute gold standard for pre school and play based education and community. They offer what no one else does : the freedom to learn through play and choices, and creative endeavors that empower children and make them confident / compassionate humans. Both my children go here and it’s been the most impactful decision for us all - introducing us to the best educators / people and community. Our kids are beyond happy there - being outside in nature and with engaging people and activities. The staff know how to treat children and families. I tried many many places and this is the best. They taught me how to respect my children’s journey, their development and their instincts. I’ve learned - through Sunflower - so much about communication, trusting play and enjoying these years of parenting while creating bonds with others. Phenomenal place. They let the kids get dirty, learn from each other and get a real sense of self. The kids are allowed to be happy (well, all feelings) and alive rather than told what to do all day (which is sadly the style of education I have seen in so many other preschools). They are TRANSPARENT - parents are encouraged to to be present and observe their teaching/mediation style ANYTIME so we can take it home. It’s a visually beautiful place, as well. This place is pure magic. Our family's time here spanned from 2.5 years old all the way through kindergarten. Though our time as students has come to an end, we're eager to stay involved through community events like the ice castle, camp days, beach days, and potlucks. My son cherished every moment he spent here and continues to stay in touch with the friends he made in his classes. We hope these friendships will be a lifelong treasure, reminding him of the unforgettable experiences and outdoor adventures he had at Sunflower.

Sunflower Creative Arts operates differently from the average preschool. They are a nature-based program, with foundations in play and open-ended art. The research on early childhood education tells us that a program such as Sunflower is evidence-based. As a parent, I have worked to thoughtfully choose the environment for my child, and I am deeply grateful that she spent her early years at this truly wonderful place. The children there are supported by a caring and carefully trained staff. The parents are given many opportunities to engage in community and receive incredible support throughout the year. Five stars on a google review hardly expresses what a touchstone Sunflower has been for our family.

Sunflower has made a profound and lasting impression on our family. There’s nothing fancy about it and that is its magic. It is a space intentionally crafted by staff and families, designed to foster curiosity, creation and genuine growth- no bells or whistles needed (except for the ones the kids might pull out of the music box) Instead of worksheets and letters and numbers, kids can focus on social skills, imagination and discovering their own voice and strength. They learn about their bodies by swinging and climbing and moving them. They create by building and painting and pouring. They aren’t restricted to sitting in a circle or completing prescribed activities, instead they are encouraged to explore their interests, and to invite some friends along if they wish! Beyond being a spectacular place for children to practice simply being kids, our whole family learned and grew so much through our connections with staff and the community and the education they provided. I am eternally grateful to have found Sunflower for my children's preschool and for our family as a whole. I know we will always be connected to Sunflower- Once a Seedling Always a Seedling!
