What Parents Say
First Parish Church in Sudbury is highly regarded as a welcoming, inclusive religious community with strong programming for families and children. Parents praise its non-dogmatic approach, supportive environment, and long-standing tradition. One reviewer objected to posted quotes they found theologically offensive.
Membership in this vibrant community has been an important part of my life for many years. The Religious Exploration Program was essential for my kids. They got so much out of it! The events and programs held here gladden the heart and stimulate the mind. The people this community attracts are compassionate, intelligent and show their generous hearts. I feel so lucky to have found this years ago. My husband and I came from different religious backgrounds and we each have felt welcome here. I recommend this place highly! It's a great family place - whatever your stage of life.
I grew up a Unitarian so when we moved to Sudbury 34 years ago we checked out First Parish. It's a wonderful welcoming community in a beautiful 18th century building. Our kids attended, daughter got married there, I sing in the choir - Love it!
Here’s a church with a non-dogmatic theology, with a socially responsible and engaged congregation, and with a kind, loving and non-judgmental community. Great support for parents who want to raise ethical kids. My spiritual home!
Your quotes that you post outside your church are offensive and downright reprehensible. I will refer to the current one, which reads: "We are fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance" All of your quotes imply that we are doomed as a people, and that our lives really don't matter because we are "as ephemeral as stardust" and there is no hope for happiness and joy in our lives. Our God does not think of us as "fools"! Our God does not make it His mission to bring His wrath upon us!! Our God is a God of love! In His eyes we are all precious creations whom He seeks to love and encourage and fill with hope, so that we may have fulfilling and meaningful lives and look forward with joy for the gift of each new day!
It is well preserved, clean, welcoming. Small congregation. A place of peace and coffee hour. I went here 1962-1971..Many memories
