My family loves Storybook Preschool! I highly recommend this facility and the preschool/kindergarten program, it has been great so far. The staff and teachers have done a fantastic job for us, they have been very sweet and answer all of my questions, and have made it a positive learning experience for my kids. I feel a lot better about going to work knowing my kids are learning and making friends and getting ready for the next chapter of their first year of elementary school (yikes!). I came with high expectations, and we looked at a couple different preschools in the area, but Storybook ended up being the right fit for us and the kind of overall type of program we were looking for. The classrooms are really nice and well taken care of (which is personally super important to me), the play area outside is big and has all kinds of activities, and the location near the freeway works really well because it is fairly close to home. The center is pretty busy (there is a Cardenas on the other end of the center and the Del Taco and other shops), and I was a little worried about the parking and busyness, but pickup/drop-off has been a breeze, and only parents can buzz in to the front office area with a code, which is another thing I like because it feels safe and secure.
We LOVED this school. It was one of the VERY few secular preschools in the area, which was important to us. The staff was great, and we LOVED our kiddos teachers. The teachers were absolutely incredible with our kiddo. Now, suddenly, they are switching from a secular school to a religious school complete with mealtime prayers and bible verse studies. I have no issue with there being religious schools. That is the director's choice to make, and I am happy for religious families to have options for schools that fit their beliefs. I am upset that we were baited and switched on. Not only that, but they plan to start the changes as soon as they get the paperwork lined up, so they don't even have the decency to wait until the end of the school year for us to find another school for our child. They have also not line out any alternative planning for parents that want to opt their children out of religious studies that do not align with their beliefs. They claim to respect different beliefs, but have not bothered to think ahead and plan for accomodations for them. Preschools in the area are very few to begin with, and secular options even more so. With the waitlists, we will probably not have another option for another 3-6 months. I am thoroughly upset and disappointed in not only this decision, but also how the new director is deciding to handle it. Absolutely heartbroken.
I highly recommend Storybook Preschool! The facilities are great and well taken care of. The teachers go above and beyond and make sure the kids feel welcome and safe. I appreciate how caring the staff is and am so glad we found it. If you want a caring and nurturing place for your child, this is the place.
Great place to send your kids! My boys love it! My daughter will be attending next year.. they communicate so well with the kids and keep us parents up to date on everything.
