What Parents Say
Stars and Stripes Learning Center receives mostly positive reviews praising teacher quality, child development, and smooth transitions to school, with parents noting children gain confidence and academic preparation. However, two recent one-star reviews raise serious concerns about staffing ratios, disciplinary practices including withholding liquids, allergy management failures, and unvetted visitors having contact with children.
My 2 year old son started going here 3 months ago we love it. He was always home with us and nanny they where very good helping with his transition. So glad we got the him here.
My son started going to Stars and Stripes when he was 3 and I am very happy that he did. He was late to begin talking but within months his teachers had him talking better than the speech therapists had expected. When my son went to school, his kindergarten teacher said that she was glad when she had children from stars and stripes because they were the best prepared. The teachers at Stars and Stripes make the transition from preschool to elementary school considerably less scary. Not only am I happy with their service but i know for a fact that my next child will be a stars and stripes kid.
My children have been attending Stars and Stripes for 3 years now and we can't rave enough about them. It is so refreshing to have a local place where our kids are not only learning at an elevated level but are taken care of as if they were immediate family. Thank you to the staff and mostly the Elliott family!
The state required ratio of child care providers to child is frequently not met, meaning your child will be placed with the rest of the school (occupancy of 56) in one room under the care of less than the required number of teachers. On multiple occasions my child had liquids withheld from them as a disciplinary measure because they knocked their cup off the table. The owner employs a number of her own family members, and fails to discipline them despite them lying directly to her face when questioned about scenarios which occurred. If your child has an allergy, they will not handle it seriously...my child was fed a food they are allergic to despite multiple conversations and providing ample 'safe' foods for them to consume. Random people stopping by to inquire about employment will be allowed to handle your child, with out any of the state mandated actions such as fingerprinting etc being completed. None of this will be the owners fault, and you'll be told to "look elsewhere" if you're not happy with the way they run things. Very unorganized, full of excuses when confronted about issues you're having, and an attitude as if they are exempt from abiding by state regulations for childcare providers.
What kind of facility allows withholding milk or water from a baby as a disciplinary action? Awful. I would not trust the owner of this facility to adequately care for any of my children if this is suitable as punishment for a baby. And when this was brought to the attention of the owner, and their only response was "If you don't like it, take your child elsewhere", that is all you need to know about this place.
