We are new to St. Philips and so far it's been welcoming, calm, and educational. They are looking for more families to join. Plenty of room for growth in the congregation and lots of classes for adults during the week.
You will love attending this church, their music and Pastor Brady's easy going down to earth manner. I call him 'Padre". After spending over 10 years in combination at two other local Lutheran Churches I just wasn't feeling it. So visited another 13 churches before finding out all I ever wanted was in my own back yard. Meaning St. Philip and team are only about 2 miles from my front door. There seems to be less politics and more a group of like minded souls getting together to worship God and wash their spirits clean. You can be up front and in it. Or sit in the back with your own quiet feelings. You will walk away renewed and refreshed. I did most definitely this past Sunday with Padre's sermon titled "I am . . " However you are called to worship you will find a home in St. Philip.
This church does not support LGBT people. They let an LGBT group meet at their church and then when someone in the church found out they were LGBT (which they were upfront about) it’s in the groups name. They interrupted the LGBT meeting to ask them to pay in cash rather than check so that they would not be associated with an LGBT group. I think the community and people who are a part of this church should know that they are supporting discrimination and bigotry.
This church has a wonderful sense of community and the messages delivered are done so in ways that make them not only relevant, but also practical, for everyday living. The fellowship is welcoming and the experience always a blessing
City Serve of Tri-Valley gave a free flea market for people at this church.
