St. Philip Lutheran Church

I have experience with this church through the preschool program. This preschool program is top-notch, and run by someone who has an obvious gift for early childhood development. This is a group of teachers that truly care about helping these little people learn and grow through these early years. The program is affordable, and should definitely be on your list of preschools to check out!

Over the years of living in Roanoke, I had heard much good about St. Philip Lutheran Church. I recently experienced that goodness while attending and participating in a funeral for a beloved friend. The sanctuary is smaller than I’d anticipated, simple in accoutrements, clean, bright, and comfortable with the added help of a dispenser of hand sanitizer at the end of every pew. Seating iand pew spaces are accessible for those with walkers or wheelchairs. There are two pastors, only one of whom I met and with whom I interacted. Pastor David Derrick is warm, welcoming and easy to speak with. The church plan is on one level, meeting rooms, rest rooms, offices as well as the sanctuary, so easily accessible from a level parking lot. There is a covered level entrance at the building’s side for those unable to access the few steps at the main entrance. For those looking for traditional, however not strict and stuffy, worship, my suggestion is to try St. Philip Lutheran Church, ELCA, out near Hollins College.

St. Philip is a wonderful place to worship. Our Pastors are mature, educated, diverse Christians!
