It’s truly a shame that this church is no longer the welcoming environment it used to be. Long-time parishioners are being banned, given restraining orders, and threatened with arrest if they try to attend church services or step on church property to visit loved ones interred there. What kind of priest calls the police instead of reaching out to people who have been members for decades? What kind of church burns bridges instead of building them? This church has lost its way. I hope it will find it again soon.
Today my husband and I received a letter from jill williams the priest in charge of what we feel is our parish in NJ since 1976 . We moved to SC but still come back to NJ. My husband whole Montvale office furniture was given to the church at which now Jill sits on. We came xmas to see a do not trespass sign on the parish road leading up to the church and the Welcome sign is down. How Episcopalian in this ? We do not understand her rationale. We sent in a pledge check signed the pledge card stating we would be interested in supporting this memorial garden. That was not our annual support to the restricted memorial garden fund. We were dismissed by Jill on having no further information given to us. The once beautiful garden that we raised funds for and had great landscape architectural advice on is in disarray. The APM held this past Sunday1/23/22 was zoomed, we logged into as number 4, but we were removed from the proceeding. Why ? Jill sent the 1/19/22 letter stating that ""Since you are unable to participate in the parish life due to distance it would not be appropriate to accept it. As soon as you have decided to join a congregation near you, they can send the transfer paperwork . We will gladly help you with that transition." Ironically, We just attended a funeral in Pawleys island SC via zoom. Our son's ashes are interred in the parish memorial garden along with over 100 other parish families, why would I not want to be affiliated with this parish after being a member of 40 years? The zoom technology is at this parish, I know it, I can't wait to give a sermon on " Mothers who Mourn" . Oh another thought my children's favorite fire truck that was created by a wonderful person in our parish yard, is gone and so is the church playground equipment, the nursey school and the teachers gone, the place where everyone from local towns sent their children regardless of religious affiliation, for over 20 years all gone. Why did the diocese of Newark allow this to happen. ? Niclas family South Carolina
I have been going to this church for over 5 years. We got married here. I love the people and the pastor. They are my second family. Very welcoming and caring. Give it a try you will see what I mean!
This church is so awesome! Loving people, a beautiful place... You just feel at home with God here. ❤ And all people are welcomed and celebrated here. You are GOOD just as you are.
If a parishioner is promoting being spiteful & embarrassing others (as I read in the Google reviews), I don’t see how they can be a true Christian church. Banning church members? No thanks!
