FROSTY! DISAPPOINTED! While looking for an Episcopal Church near my mother's house, I went to last Sundays service at St. John's. Walking in I was handed the reading by a smiling gentleman who said, "Good morning". Other than the Peace Greetings, he was the only person who spoke to me. This is not what I am used to having grown up in Lynchburg Churches. I was stunned. Not a friendly smile or word from one single person. Ironically, the sermon was about getting to know and loving your neighbors! Evidently I was the only one paying attention. It was a private club atmosphere. This is not the same Lynchburg that I was raised in. It made me feel the opposite of how I should have felt after attending church; Sad and ashamed for the congregation of that beautiful old church.
I love the Episcopal Church and am a member of St. John's where we have a loving family and accepting and encouraging priest, Father Chris, a marvelous music ministry, and vibrant outreach. Please visit us on Sunday or Wednesday and be blessed! Ann Smith
