I was shocked that I was immediately rejected not to get my son baptized at this church when I mentioned I don't go to their church. I was immediately accused of shopping churches, those where the exact words of the lady I spoke to. By the way, took me about an hour to get someone on the phone. I am new in Hawaii, but my son's grandparents (caregiver) live in Mililani, also I saw that they have preschool. I thought this would be a good place where my son could grow and be taught catechism and that we can be part of this community. I am really shocked and heartbroken by how I was spoken to and treated. A church should never deny anyone. A church MUST be open to anyone who believes in God. A church MUST not discriminate. A church must be compassionate and welcoming. This church or the lady I spoke to does not demonstrate the love of God. Good to know! I don't write reviews, no matter how upset I get. However, because this is a church and a preschool, I thought people should know. Parents put all their trust in a place where their children spend most of their time. The workers are a reflection of their education system as well. But I'm glad that I was able to see a glimpse of people's beliefs, practices and attitudes at this place.
We went here when we lived in Hawaii, 1977 to 1981. The best place we ever lived in. Really enjoyed the priests. Towards the end of our time there, a new young priest joined the parish. One day we ran into him in the Pay-n-Save in Mililani. He was wearing baggies and carrying a boogie board. He immediately recognized us, but it took a while to recognize him.
Monsignor John is so genuinely spiritually enlightened, that I feel blessed to have met him. When I hear him speak the Gospel, I feel light as air, and listen to every word, better than many a story teller. He has brought me back to the Church, and my husband and I will be redoing our vows after 20 years. Can't say enough about this parish. Also, Deacon Modesto helped us get past a really troubling time, he goes the extra mile! Happy Sunday, and God Bless you.
Our family had to experience terrible ABUSE from a past CULT CHURCH called the HONOLULU CHURCH OF CHRIST located on keeaumoku street they were DISHONEST WITH OUR MONEY and are running SCAMS on the island... the folks at st johns try to help our family out as much as possible we highly suggest going to this church. they are very friendly.
