If you are a student you must find an internship on your own Do not wait to start looking Website is not truthful and the internship course does not place you somewhere Handshake is not that good either for searching for opportunities Applied to 1200+ positions with very few replies and less than 15 interviews Professors are great, career services could be a lot better Found out about local employer events after I graduated and was not eligible for any of their internships. Should be advertising this to students in main foot traffic areas. Did not find out about scholarships they offer until it was too late. Should be advertised as well. Summer research opportunities available but not advertised Very disappointed in my experience. Feels like I wasted 100k and 4 years.

Going to the Mental Health Counseling Graduate Program here is the first decision I ever made that I knew was a "100 percent yes" decision and it is, to this day, one of the most fulfilling decisions of my life. The campus is beautiful and peaceful. The professors helped me learn and grow in ways I couldn't have even fathomed at the time of choosing the university. I feel that the relationships made are lifelong ones and I consider it one of the most positive and integrative and uplifting choices I've ever made. I cannot recommend it enough and think fondly of my education and relationships made there every week. It started a path which has led to a meaningful and purposeful career. I can say with assuredness that I am now making a wonderful living doing something I enjoy because of the education I received at St John Fisher 🙏🏼✨

THE FOOD IS A LIE, they say it’s the best in New York but they lost that ranking 6 years ago! I’ve been here for 4 years and each year the quality and selection only got worse and worse, the food you see when visiting is not what they will actually serve 99% of the time. The only decent thing is that they added occasional halal food options which taste better even if you’re not Muslim. Parking spaces are non existent for residents, you have to park 10 minutes away in the far lot. You don’t get climate control until your sophomore year, even then it’s fake and barely actually impacts the temperature. They choose which days it works and which days “we can survive” without it. They set whether you get to heat or cool the rooms, switching heat/cool modes doesn’t actually do anything. When it’s hot outside and the thermostat is set to 60, the room never gets below 70 degrees. The rooms are tiny and shared, unless you’re physically severely handicapped good luck ever getting a single room. Now on the academic side, it doesn’t get much better, the science courses are shallow and don’t go in depth to prepare you for the benchmark exams like the MCAT/DAT or the real world. You’re forced to take 50% “core classes” which are just pointless boring liberal arts courses that heavily push an agenda on you. 95% of them are things like “gender studies, LGBT in education, race and social justice”. The more moderate classes are very rare and are immediately taken up by upper class men so you’re forced to go into those classes. If you have ADHD, run away because good luck ever getting the motivation to turn in their depressingly boring and long frequent assignments. I’ve excelled in my major science courses but nearly flunked out because of their “core classes” which couldn’t be easier if they weren’t so long and boring. I have to give it to them that at least the security team got better recently, previously they had major power trip issues and they would take out their frustration out on you. The scholarship offer is what sold me on this place and honestly I wish I had gone somewhere else even if it cost thrice as much. Most science classes have been cut down further since and it’s less deserving of the title “university” than it has ever been. They waste our budget on stupid things like rebuilding a library that worked fine previously instead of giving us decent food, or actual climate control, or parking lots, or a better core class variety, at least. I have to give it to them, most* of their science teachers are good people and the only reason I survived this place so long. Even with nearly a full ride, if I could go back in time and go anywhere else I would. Don’t let the scholarships fool you, it’s more of a corrupt high school than a college. Cough up the extra buck for a better place! I just hope my academic record is salvageable after these “core” classes that I refused to do. God forbid I don’t want to be force fed an agenda that has nothing to do with my major!
