Our 9 year old son started at South Austin Karate nearly two years ago. We immediately felt this is our dream school for our son. The instructors are strict and yet really kind and want to make sure that students really LEARN their techniques; students do not easily earn stripes or test for new ranks. The students have to work hard and truly understand and know their belt material before progressing. Students are able to learn at their pace, the studio is a great value as students can attend daily if they want. The instructors ensure that the students are taught with respect, dignity and care--no matter the age of the student. The instructors all have a passion for karate and it shows in how they teach. During this last two years, my son has gained strength, balance, passion and confidence (areas he has struggled with). We attribute it to South Austin Karate and its teaching methods. This is a phenomenal Karate school, with phenomenal instructors. I encourage everyone to visit the school. The best time is between 4 to 5 pm while students practicing karate. This is the best place to achieve a well mannered child. The staff is wonderful and my grandchildren love it! They learn respect and manors for adults and other children I can really see a difference in them since they have attended this school. They also learned the cutest Karate moves..they entertain their grandparents for hours! Love love love this school and the staff. Mike and Bernice will be a friend of ours for life!!
Our son has been going here since he was 4. He is now almost 9 and we can not say enough good things about the honor, self control, responsibility and spiritual skills that are taught here, (the spiritual skills being sitting in meditation pose during certain times). Oh did I mention that he is totally buff? And that he begs to stay and play the games! This is as well the knife throwing hall of fame, so of course they teach knife throwing. What kid doesn't want to throw knives??!! Best summer camp & after school program in South Austin! Thanks Debra & Master Castro for all you do!
We live in Houston now but my then 4 almost 5yr old learned so much in the year he was with SAK. I MISS THESE GUYS SO MUCH. My son was a handful and they always worked so well with him. Summer camp was awesome too. I wish they had a group of guys with a similar program in Houston.
My son has really thrived here - they have a wonderful program and staff!
