What Parents Say
Sorrento Valley Children's Center receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from most parents, who praise the warm, family-like environment, attentive teachers, small class sizes, and effective educational approach. However, one parent reported serious safety concerns including injuries from furniture, inadequate supervision relative to advertised ratios, and unaddressed hazards.
Our son attended Sorrento Valley Children’s Center in Ms Marla's class and we couldn’t be happier with the love and care he received. The teachers are incredibly kind and attentive, and our son always felt safe, supported, and happy in their care. In fact, he often didn’t want to leave at pick-up because he loved spending time in their amazing play area—complete with playhouses, trains, trucks, and plenty of space to run. He made wonderful friends and truly thrived here. We are so grateful to the owners and directors Carol, Elana and, who make the entire experience seamless for parents—exactly what you hope for when sending your toddler off to school. We couldn’t recommend Sorrento Valley Children’s Center more highly!
This is a horrible place. Choosing this place was the worst decision in my life. We were misled by their advertised student/teacher ratio. The teachers were very rude and my son learned many bad words here. The place is very old and has many safety concerns. My son fell down in the classroom and got his face bleeding by some sharp furniture. One teacher, who is over 60, fell down in the classroom because of their unstable chairs. Even the owner herself fell down in the playground, broke her bones and being sent to ER in front of all the kids. All these incidences happened in the same year. I cannot believe any place can have so many safety concerns. Besides all, we spotted rattle snake right outside of the entrance. When we reported to their director, they refused to take any action and insisted their place was "nice and safe".
We have had the best experience at Sorrento Valley Children's Center. Our son attended for 2 years and our daughter is in the midst of finishing up her last year (T-K) here. The center and teachers cultivate a warm, family-like environment. It is a traditional play-based but very educational preschool program that does well to prepare the kids socially and academically for kindergarten. There is a rich, engaging year-round program of activities and learning that are offered and that our children love. They have small classroom sizes and have a great teacher:student ratio, which has been amazing. Our son was beyond ready for kindergarten when the time came, thanks to the wonderful teachers at SVCC! Truly a gem and a fantastic preschool!
Our daughter has been going to the school now for a year and all we can say it is a safe, clean and caring environment. We are now enrolling her into her second year here based on all the things she has learned and the friends she has made. One of the jewels in education lies within Sorrento Valley.
