Sonbeam Day Care

We love Sonbeam! My son and daughter have been attending Sonbeam for almost 2 years now. All of the teachers working here put so much love and care into the kids. Our family was struggling, we had a horrible experience at an expensive "hip" daycare, and Sonbeam was our saving grace. Sonbeam has so many fun activities and themes that they do and my kids actually eat the food because it is kid friendly food. We all know that finding daycare in Portland can be very difficult, expensive, and competitive. Sonbeam is affordable with excellent staff, flexible with moving from part to full time, and has a warm nurturing environment. I can not recommend them enough.

Our daughter just turned 2 and has gone here for the better part of a year now and my wife and I cannot tell enough people about it! They have been nothing short of amazing with her and she comes home everyday knowing more than the last. The teachers are well established there and are currently working with her on potty training in conjunction with at home and it has been incredibly helpful! They also have an amazing outdoor playground for the kids that was just renovated as well as a great indoor gym for them to play with tons of toys for the rainy season! They treat her(and us) like family everyday when we show up! we can’t recommend sonbeam enough!!

I love Sonbeam! My daughter attends and she loves it and feels safe. They have set routines and have lots of learning activities that continue to allow them to grow and develop. She is well loved and cared for while I’m busy at work. Prices are well comparable to surrounding daycares. Food is made from scratch. Warm welcoming and loving environment. Couldn’t ask for a better environment for my daughter! They keep us feeling safe during a time of uncertainty. They have been upfront with new guidelines from CDC and making sure every child and every staff member is safe.

My daughter attended Sonbeam from baby room to graduation! She loved every day there and frequently asks to return. In addition, we were comfortable leaving her every day in their hands and she is well-prepared for kindergarten.

My daughter is almost 5 and has been attending Sonbeam for 8 months now and we both love it. The director Karen is truly a loving and caring woman. She is always open and receptive to me and my concerns. I feel she is both a compassionate and genuine person. The program coordinator, Lindsay is also wonderful, she's cute, fun, and on the ball. My daughter always says that Lindsay is so pretty and that she loves her because she is so nice! The three teachers are also incredible. The whole group of caretakers including the school’s chef feel like they are a family, I think they've all worked together for around 15 to 20 years. So far this year the kids are learning a lot. My daughter always has a cubby full of art to take home, usually singing a new song that she's learned and reciting a new bible verse that she's learned. She's made many friends and just told me the other day again how much she LOVES her school and wishes she could be there everyday. The school also has a lot of performing arts that my daughter loves! Over the summer they had a weeklong ‘Tour of Egypt” camp that was a blast and they also had a few different performances! The director and coordinator just took training classes at 'The Children's Theater' that they'll be incorporating with the children. In the beginning, my main draw to the school was the flexibility they offered in terms of a schedule. Every other school I contacted had strict schedules that didn’t work for me. After having my daughter enrolled for 8 months now though I've learned there is much more to love! Very well rounded, safe, fun, good academics. It's been a pleasure to be a part of their family and I look forward to the rest of the year. Also, there seems to be a lot of fun options lately: ice cream socials, Disney on ice, children's museum, etc..
