What Parents Say
Smokey Point D/C & Kindergarten receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from most parents, who praise the caring and responsive staff, facility layout, and communication app. However, one parent reported a negative experience with staff rudeness in the parking lot and an unresponsive, defensive assistant director when attempting to address the concern.
Writing a review since I I like to read reviews on places and let’s just say I Love this place! This will be my child’s 2nd year and I love everything about it! I love the layout, I love how there is multiple adults in a room. I also love how sweet the staff is! They also have an app where they update you with pictures on what they played with what time they fell asleep/woke up as well with any food through out the day. Excited for my other kids to assist in the future😊
Truly have had a great experience in the short time we’ve been here. I can tell the staff truly care about the kids in their care 🫶🏼
If I could give 0 stars, I would. I've only had 1 interaction with this place, and it went horrible. I called to discuss the way my daughter had been treated by one of their employees. She was trying to pick up a pre ordered to go meal from 5 guys, and the parking lot was full. Not knowing the spot she chose to park in was reserved, she parked there. I was on the phone with her at the time and heard someone yelling, and then my daughter said she "had to go, someone was yelling at [her]." She called me back in 15-20 seconds in complete hysterics over how she was treated and what was said to her. I couldn't even understand her she was crying so hard. I can't think of a single reason a conversation should go that off in that short of time Now, let's start off by admitting my daughter parked in the wrong spot. I get that, and I understand employees informing people of the mistake. What i don't get and don't understand is the level of disrespect by starting the conversation in a way that puts anyone in tears, much less forcing them to cry so hard they can not be understood. There is no excuse for that. I tried to call and speak to the director to ask that they should understand if they are going to ask to be alone with our children, they should understaff respect and common decency. All the employee has to do was politely inform her that she couldn't park where she parked. My daughter would have moved and found some place else to park. The assistant director talked to me and got immediately defensive, escalating the conversation, causing me to get upset as well at her. The conversation didn't go well at all after that, and the assistant director's immediate rude and condescending tone and attitude pushed the conversation in a direction it never needed to or should have gone. She immediately started defensively asking what the teacher looked like-only seconds after I said I heard the interaction on the phone. She constantly cut me off and interrupted. She was never interested in hearing anything I wanted to tell her, especially and somewhat understandably after the call got heated. She never had any intention of trying to understand or deescalate. My only intent for the call was a polite reminder that you can ask people to move without upsetting them to the point of hysterical tears. I only say this so that people who are thinking of trusting this place with their children understand that there are employees in positions of authority who don't care about respect, understanding, and concern or addressing a concern. Yes, I got upset on the call after the condescending and clear lack of concern. I admit that, but it's very concerning to me that this type of person is running a daycare. She demonstrated none of the qualities someone in that line of work needs to have-willingness to listen, willingness to understand concerns, and ability to even attempt to deescalate-to name a few. It's no wonder the teachers would treat people they way they do with someone like this over them. With so many options available to us in child care, it is highly recommended to look elsewhere.
All the teachers are amazing and so responsive to the kids’ individual needs. They make sure everyone feels supported and they love the kiddos as if they’re family.
Amazing, friendly, and caring staff that made my baby feel right at home from day 1.
