Choosing a childcare center is like choosing another parent for your child. Considering what a huge deal it is, I am proud to say there has not been a single day that I have questioned choosing Sunnyside. My daughter has blossomed in so many ways since joining the community here... the level of care, attention and love she receives has been unsurpassed. Meanwhile, that Sunnyside is a parent co-op has added a certain richness to the experience. Everyone who is part of the Sunnyside community is engaged and supportive... making it a place not just for kids to thrive, but for parents to do the same.
We consider ourselves lucky to have found Sunnyside when we moved to the area. Our daughter has had such a wonderful experience there the past year and a half, and my wife and I have been thrilled. Sunnyside's director, staff, and teachers are professional, dedicated, and nurturing. We've always been impressed by their commitment. Sunnyside inspires curiosity and learning--our daughter often comes home excited about new things that she's done. The staff are deeply aware of their charges' needs in their intellectual, emotional, and social lives. A wealth of activities is nicely balanced by quiet times, and an emphasis on community and deep appreciation for diversity. Happily, that sense of community applies to the parent cooperative. We love that there's such active family involvement at Sunnyside--something that makes it a special place.
Sunnyside is a special place. After a hard look around the area for the best option (we spent 2 years at another center), we sent all three of our kids to Sunnyside. Two have moved on to elementary school, and our son is in his last year there. First and foremost, we love what Sunnyside does for our kids. In a beautiful and warm facility, caring teachers helped (and are helping) prepare our kids for the next steps in their lives in a safe and stimulating environment. With just the right mix of learning and play, we have seen first hand the benefit of the Sunnyside approach as both of our daughters entered a Chinese immersion Kindergarten well prepared both socially and intellectually. I credit Sunnyside's deep commitment to a diverse environment for ensuring that my children were exposed to many types of people and approaches to life. Tolstoy wrote in Anna Karenina: "...if it is true that there are as many minds as there are heads, then there are as many kinds of love as there are hearts..." Sunnyside demonstrated this truth to our family. On top of that is the supportive and friendly community fostered by Sunnyside's status as a parent co-op. Our kids aren't the only ones who've made wonderful friends here, and the relationships we've made have persisted beyond the end of our children's enrollment at the center. We've met kind, dedicated, intelligent people from all over the Valley, and our lives are richer for it. I strongly recommend Sunnyside for your children.
When we first started looking into preschools for our daughter, I contacted a trusted friend to inquire about Sunnyside. Her first response was, "It's magical!" Two years later, our daughter has just finished preschool at Sunnyside and we couldn't agree more. She had such a wonderful time there and formed close friendships with a wonderfully diverse group of children. She had caring teachers, learned a great deal about getting along with others and built excellent self-confidence.
Sunnyside teachers are the best. They are warm, caring and provide an environment for children to thrive. They are creative and come up with incredible projects. They know how to guide children to explore their world. And they are supportive of parents, helping with child rearing challenges, from potty training to tantrums to separation anxiety--they've seen it all. There are so many days that I drop my children off and wish I could go there myself.
