Smallville Preschool has been such a wonderful environment for my son. The teachers are wonderful, he is learning so much and brings home the most wonderful projects. Staff turnover is very low and I appreciate that he can remain at Smallville for TK. The school also has a fabulous outdoor play area with shade, perfect to let my rambunctious son burn some energy. Also, the special activities are fantastic. They do an especially nice job for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day that is really above and beyond. Smallville has provided an enriching and fun day for my son and gives me so much peace of mind as a working mom.
My twin sons started attending Smallville during the summer of 2024 at the age of 3 after we experienced big family life changes and were new to the area. After visiting a few different preschools, this one felt like the perfect environment for my kids especially since they have the best outdoor playground that I've seen which is necessary for my active boys. All of the staff made us feel welcomed and supported during this transition. They are now in TK and are thriving at the age of 4. They attend between 3-5 days a week depending on our scheduling needs, which the school graciously accommodates. The twins are in different classrooms to help them focus better since they tend to distract each other, and to encourage their development as individuals by engaging with their teachers and peers separately. I enjoy seeing Class Dojo app posts from the teachers of fun learning activities. My boys were very excited about the school visit from a local doctor, firefighter, police officer, and construction crew. The other parents also contribute to creating a positive sense of community, such as volunteering to organize a Halloween trunk or treat at the school parking lot. I appreciate how director Shannon and her family invest their own free time and resources into the upkeep of the school as a whole to ensure that stays a special and safe place for our prescious littles. I highly recommend Smallville Preschool!
My older son started here several months ago after his previous preschool closed suddenly. The staff were very sweet with him with that difficult transition away from his friends and made him feel welcome. His little brother started there shortly after and they both really like it. The teachers are friendly, and especially my older son is really learning - he is a whiz with letters and numbers and is starting to read words and stories, months in advance of kindergarten. Maybe my only little complaint is I wish they did more songs together as a class - I miss when my older son would come home from his previous school singing a new song with hand movements - it was so cute. There's a great balance between play time, especially outside on their wonderful playground (with lots of shade, which is important to me), and learning time. The staff keep us up to date on Class Dojo with photos and summaries and they invite parents to holiday parties. The school provides morning and afternoon snacks and the prices are very competitive. Highly recommend Smallville.
We absolutely love Smallville! Such supportive and caring teachers, always calm and patient with the kids. My daughter loves going every day, we are so glad we found this preschool!
We experienced ableism discrimination and would never recommend this place. Honestly thought of suing.
