I can not say enough good things about the current staff at Smallville. Mrs Lisa Maxwell and her team have really made Smallville a warm and inviting school. The classrooms look great and the children are always engaged in activities with their teachers. Great job Smallville Team!
I would give zero stars if I could. I’ve only had my children at this daycare for two weeks, and it’s been a truly heartbreaking and disappointing experience. From day one, I noticed serious red flags that no parent should ever have to ignore. After a recent splash day, my 4-year-old daughter was left in her wet bathing suit all day long even though I had packed a full change of clothes for her. The staff never called to ask if I had provided any, and later claimed they “couldn’t find them.” To make matters worse, she had an accident that same day and still wasn’t changed or cleaned up, and again, no one contacted me. That is absolutely unacceptable. Another time, while dropping my children off, I witnessed a teacher yelling at a toddler in a harsh and aggressive tone. She said, “I don’t care you need to put the toys away and listen to me!” It was completely inappropriate and unsettling to witness, especially in a place that’s supposed to nurture and care for children. Ever since we started here, my 4-year-old has cried every single morning at drop-off and begs for me all day something that is completely out of character for her. At her previous daycare, she was happy, loved, and well cared for. This change in behavior is a huge red flag. Even my 8-year-old, who occasionally sees her sister in passing, has noticed that she’s always crying. It breaks my heart. My daughter has even cried asking to see her sister, who is just in the room next door, and the staff refused to let her. Today was the last straw. I arrived to drop my children off and couldn’t bring myself to leave them. The way the staff were interacting with the kids, combined with how visibly scared and hesitant my 4-year-old was, made it clear that this is not a safe or supportive environment. Parents deserve peace of mind knowing their children are being treated with kindness and respect while they’re away. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience here. I do not recommend this daycare to anyone who wants their child to feel safe, supported, or cared for.
I love all the changes I've seen coming to Smallville. The teachers are so pleasant to work with. My daughter begs to go to daycare during the summer!
Our 9 month old loves it here! We have been using Smallville since we moved to the area in May. The first “green flag” for us is they provide walk-in tours. The staff is always friendly and personable. We feel at ease when on shift & leaving our baby in the care of this facility.
Such a cute little school. When I took a tour today I felt extremely welcomed by the Director & her assistant. They were able to answer all of my questions and some!
