TL;DR My 2 year old was expelled because the daycare lost him... twice. My wife went to pick him up in the afternoon just to find out he wasn't at the daycare. She was about to call the police when they saw a complete stranger walking up the road to the daycare with our son in his arms. He assumed our lost child might have come from the daycare and was bringing him back. We talked to the staff to get an idea of what happened and we were assured this would never happen again. My wife understandably didn't want him going back but he had been attending this daycare for over a year with no history of this kind of incident so I assumed this was a one-off thing. The very next day my wife gets a call before 11am saying our child had escaped again and he is no longer welcome at this daycare. When we asked for clarifcation on the reason their response was essentially "we just can't keep track of him". I could maybe understand if our child needed special attention but he's an average 2 year old. We used up a lifetime supply of luck as the stranger could just as easily have taken him and no one would have known. Any daycare that can't keep track of a 2 year old shouldn't be allowed to operate.
