What Parents Say
Shining Star Early Learning Academy receives mixed reviews. Multiple parents praise the warm, family-oriented atmosphere, caring staff, and enriching activities. However, several parents report serious concerns including inadequate supervision, failure to accommodate allergies with proper incident documentation, staff inattentiveness, and insufficient educational structure.
I absolutely love Shining Star on 103rd King Drive! The teachers are very nice. They always greet me and my child with a smile. They are very respectable and they cater to all of the children regardless of the classroom they are assigned to!! I also love Ms. Jazmin and Ms. Naomi in the office. I love that they are so involved in the classrooms although they are office staff. I love the activities they plan for the center! They had a carnival that was really nice last summer and they also give toys to the children for the holiday! I commend Shining Star and will forever be grateful for the great job they do teaching my child and making us feel so comfortable, especially working with me and understanding me as a parent!! Thank you guys so much!!! :)
I love shining star and all that they have to offer for children all 4 of my children have gone to shining star. This was the first year we were able to participate in prom and graduation. Which were both extremely beautiful. They are family oriented mother's day and father's day were completely unexcepted. All the teachers are wonderful and truly care for the children. They make you feel like you're apart of the family.
"My son is allergic to eggs". All health conditions were presented to the daycare. The day of 1/27/22 my son was served with eggs and other items on his tray that morning. No one from the daycare on 103rd notified me. I asked was a incident report made. On 1.28.22 the Director Vanessa stated no incident report was needed. As a parent we rely on daycares to provide service and care for our kids. Not to put them in harms way. This was a careless mistake that could of been prevented. "Certain" staff members lack communication and accountability. Since the daycare didn't write a incident report. I made a report through DCFS HOTLINE.
The shining star on 103rd is not a good daycare. I believe they have employees who does not have the certifications to teach children or atleast not the passion to teach. I have never seen teachers constantly on their cell phone while children are under their care. A teacher basically questioned my parenting skills which cause me to withdraw my child. I wouldn't recommend this daycare.
So my son went here when he was two years old I worked right next door at the Dunkin' Donuts so I'm like this will work. At first I loved it I thought it was great. Then I start picking up on stuff and how my son came home with different marks every single day. Thought nothing off it kids will fight but one day I told them to run the tapes in other words the cameras and the teacher basically watched my son get into fights with other kids. No my son didn't not throw the first hit, but both my son and the other child was rolling all over the floor fighting like adults and no one seem to notice if though they were in arm reach. When the staff who was standing there was brought in to take a look she said she didn't seem them. At the point I was pissed off. They didn't nothing to reassure me my son would be safe so I removed him from the daycare
