What Parents Say
Shelia's Kiddie Cottage receives mixed reviews with most parents praising the cleanliness, educational curriculum, and caring staff, but several parents report negative experiences with the owner's demeanor and inclusion practices. Long-term families express satisfaction with learning outcomes and accessibility, while others describe dismissive treatment and concerns about how children with disabilities or behavioral differences are handled.
I was not going to write a review, but I just want to share my experience , first time even coming in the door meeting the owner we sat down and he constantly told me that if my child do this that and the 3rd he will be removed. If he doesn’t learn to get into routine he will be removed . My son is only 1 years old . Leaving the daycare that day I was beyond stressed .The First day of school I was told he needed to be able to pick up toys after himself and to stay in his own section , which my son was not doing he’s very active ,I believe that’s why he really was removed . Because the other kids in his class seemed calmer.Ms Shelia, talked to me as if I was her child ,very rude .Also what he was removed from the school for I won’t disclose because that was unfair as well , but they called me and said that was his second chance , and he’s out ! He didn’t have any kind of remorse in his voice .Lord knows I had needed my son to be in school so I can work , but when I was told he couldn’t come back a weight was lifted off my shoulders . Thats how stressed I was and he only attended the school for two days . It was a really hurtful experience for me I didn’t feel compassion or love there for my son , I felt he was treated like an alien . Kiddie cottage” boot camp” , that’s what it gave me .
This daycare is nothing short of amazing Ms. Shelia and her staff is very sweet and professional. I previously owed Ms. Shelia from. A previous child and she still took my baby and my nephew in with open arms. My baby and my nephew learned so much and If any child was sick or hurt in the class she would notify every parent as a precaution and I appreciated that so much. Ms. Shelia was always very accessible at all times and very professional I would trust any child with her and her staff.
The owners did not want my son there because he has a disability. Shelia exact words were I don't want to deal with all of that plus he'll be a liability to us. Responding to your review.... my child NEVER ATTENDED your center. The lady and man owner DID NOT want him because of his kidney disease. When I explained to the lady owner what it is and what it does...her exact words were, he's a liability...we don't want him here. The man tried to fix it up but the damage was already done. I don't wish ill will on your center but please know the word of God says you reap what you sow. But you know that you guy's claim to be church going people.
My son went to Shelia’s Kiddie Cottage for two years (2022-2024) and we had an amazing experience! He learned so much and the staff is always informative and responsive. The center is clean and my kiddo learned a ton. This center is an Algiers gem and has been for generations. I highly recommend if you are looking for year round care.
I started at this daycare since 2016- present. I always felt comfortable when my kids go there. The place is clean and educational stuff is all over daycare. The teachers are excited and concerned about each child progress. The owner does follow the school board curriculum according to a child age. The staff really cares about each child well being and their learning development. ⭐️
