Shelby University - A Childcare Community

We love Shelby University. All the teachers in the freshman classroom have been so kind and so attentive to our son. I love the daily photos we are sent, my son always looks very happy. Yesterday Nikki noticed that my son was uncomfortable from teething and she went above and beyond to make him more comfortable and even recommended products for us to use at home to help his poor gums. I am a very over protective mom, so I was very hesitant to start daycare, but from my initial conversation and tour with April I knew I was making the right choice. My husband and I are very thankful we found Shelby University for our baby, they are wonderful and we would recommend them to anyone.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Shelby University! I am so incredibly grateful that I found this daycare over five years ago. They say it takes a village to raise children and I feel extremely lucky to have Shelby U be a part of my village. They have become family to us! My son started coming here when he was 6 months old and is now in elementary school. He loves going back to the school age room during breaks to see his old teachers and friends. In fact, he ALWAYS begs me to attend extra days! My daughter is two and loves coming here. The teachers take great care of the kids. I drop my children off knowing that they are in wonderful care. The Owner, Kim and Director, April are very helpful, involved and always go above and beyond! The teachers are interactive and have great activities planned for the kids. The playground and gym have fun toys that the kids enjoy! My kids enjoy all the meals and snacks that are served. The whole facility is kept exceptionally clean. If you are looking for a daycare to take excellent care of your kids, I would suggest checking out Shelby University! :)

There are very few people I trust with my kids, and Shelby U is at the top of my list, second to family. I’m very particular and involved, and I ask a lot of questions (I probably drive them crazy, but if so, it doesn’t show). Shelby U has always provided such loving care to my kids. My kids get excited to see the staff members and run up and give them hugs. The manager, April, and the owner, Kim, are both fantastic human beings, along with the rest of their staff. The food program is amazing as well - I don’t have to pack their lunch! Prices are fair, questions are always answered, and they always call a parent if something doesn’t seem right. We wouldn’t go anywhere else! I also don’t write many reviews, but I’m compelled to write one about them.

Just seeing the negative reviews on here makes me have to chime in to avoid any confusion to new parents… we have been here for a few years with multiple children and it’s never a question of whether they're in good hands when we leave. From the teachers to the classrooms… they check every box for us! Our kids love the activities provided for them along with the love they get from the teachers. Every kid requires different attention, even down to ours. And we feel that they all get exactly what they need here! Adults and their needs are all different, too. Some people you’ll never satisfy and I do believe many of those people are the only ones who take to the keyboard to share their bad experiences. I just want to be the one to share a great experience with Shelby University because they are all great! And we’re happy to have found them…

Absolute Horrible experience with my 18 month old. Bait & switch since week 2. Toured rooms with teachers we were happy with, he was moved without our consent. He was picked up poor behavior & we now have behavioral issues we never had before. Instead of correcting they prefer to yell, or complain to the parent. The teachers in the junior class are elderly & don’t move well. If you watch cameras they are sitting 90% of the day. Young children need hands on attention & this place does not provide that. They also are very unorganized, had trouble keeping track of payments. Very upset & dissatisfied If they can’t keep track of payment how are they keeping track of your children. I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone.
