What Parents Say
School for Friends receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents who praise the caring, dedicated teachers, nurturing environment, and play-based curriculum that balances academic and social-emotional learning. Parents highlight the school's warm community culture, intentional teaching practices, and strong parent communication. One negative review cited concerns about teacher turnover.
Our daughter is very happy and learning a lot. Teachers are very caring and the environment is great. We feel very fortunate to be part of it.
We are so grateful to have heard about this hidden gem from a friend. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were embraced by a warm and welcoming environment that truly feels like a second home. Our daughter absolutely loves going to school each day, and it’s heartwarming to see her excitement as she talks about her experiences. The entire team—teachers, staff, and administration—work seamlessly together, creating a nurturing atmosphere where every child is known and valued. The teachers are exceptionally inspiring, engaging the children in creative lesson plans tailored to their current interests. We appreciate the school’s open communication and the way they encourage parent involvement, making us feel like an integral part of our daughter’s educational journey. We couldn’t be happier with the care and attention our daughter receives, and we highly recommend School for Friends to any parent looking for a preschool that prioritizes both learning and love.
Wonderful and caring school, nurturing, dedicated & skillful teachers, intentional parent and family community. We could not recommend School for Friends more highly.
Our family has had a truly wonderful experience with this preschool at all stages of toddlerhood/Pre-K for both of our kids (who attended ages 18 mos up until kindergarten). The teachers are very caring and committed, and there is an amazing parent community as well. We particularly appreciated the play-based curriculum, focus on kindness and social/emotional growth, age-appropriate anti-bias initiatives, and highly utilized (shaded!) on-site playground.
Five stars aren’t enough for School for Friends. Before enrolling, we visited a half a dozen centers and inevitably tried La Petite Academy and the Goddard School at the Wharf. Both looked impressive on paper, but they fell short in practice: • La Petite promised a “STEM-infused” curriculum, yet most days our son just sang songs. We saw no real exploration, no hands-on projects, nothing new. • Goddard dazzled us during the tour, then put our son in a completely different classroom once we started. On day one his key fobs weren’t ready, materials were missing, and staff seemed unprepared. We withdrew him after a day and a half. Oh btw, they did not refund any of the $2500 we paid them. The Director was unwavering and unprofessional. Major disappointment. Those experiences showed us that many centers are glorified daycares. School for Friends is the opposite. What makes School for Friends exceptional 1. Transformative impact. Within 48 hours our son was more curious, talkative, and confident. 2. Educators who treat teaching as a calling. Every instructor is deeply trained, intentional, and passionate. 3. A principal who greets every child by name and sets a culture of kindness and accountability. 4. Balanced social-emotional and academic growth. Activities build empathy alongside early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving. 5. True organization and transparency. From orientation to daily notes, everything is clear, timely, and professional. If you care about your child’s social, emotional, and educational development, School for Friends is the only choice. Our only regret is not finding them sooner.
