Sarah Ward Nursery School is EXTRAORDINARY! My son attended this nursery school for Pre-K 4, and we watched him grow in so many areas, both socially, and academically. Their staff is professional, punctual, and inclusive. I noticed that their school leader cares for the children and the community. The school leader provides children with a secure, and clean facility. Finally, the food! You can smell freshly cooked food every day. My son loved his teachers and classmates. The best experience!

Sarah Ward has its pluses and minuses. The school overall can do a better job at communicating with parents updating them on what their children learned for the day. They also should spend more time on academic goals to ensure that most to all students achieve academic milestones as they reach the next level. Teachers need to be more creative in their approaches to get students to achieve their academic milestones. Newark’s curriculum heavily focuses on the social emotional skills and kids do learn by playing and exploring but parents and students need more assistance in improving their academic skills like writing, spelling, counting, reading, and drawing basic shapes and images. My son loves the food and loves his teachers. Morning care tends to be pretty quiet and engaging for kids. They have the opportunity to independently play with toys that are available. Aftercare can be a bit hectic depending on the number of kids because there is limited staff. If you are expecting super engaging activities then Sarah Wards morning and aftercare will fail your expectations. You’ll find kids either playing with toys independently or in small groups, story time, and TV time.
Sarah ward is beyond amazing! My son attended this school for Pre-K 3 & Pre-K 4 2 years ago. They were absolutely the best. The teachers are GREAT. I am excited to get my almost 3 year old daughter enrolled for the 2019-2020 school year!
Both my children attended Sarah Ward Nursery School and we're both nonverbal.The teachers and secretaries always informed me about everything and went out there way to help me with anything as well Mr Rich who is a wonderful director. Thanks to the teachers and therapist at Sarah Ward my kids are now talking in full sentences.
