What Parents Say
Salem Lutheran Children's Center receives consistently high praise from parents who value the staff's caring approach, strong educational curriculum, and family-like atmosphere. Parents highlight excellent communication, personalized attention to individual needs (including food allergies), and children's readiness for kindergarten. The center is noted for its longevity, affordability, and Christian educational environment.
Our family absolutely loves the staff and environment at Salem! My daughter learned how to write her name in the three’s class, she can identify many letters in the alphabet, and several numbers. Salem’s daycare/pre-K programs have an excellent focus on instruction, but also learning through having fun. For example, my daughter learned about measurements and mixing by making pancakes. The staff is very responsive to family needs and communicates daily with reports home about food, naps, and what students did during the day. We drop off our daughter each day knowing that she is in the best hands. I would recommend Salem Lutheran Children's Center to anyone looking for an excellent learning environment for their children.
Our family loves Salem!! Three of our kids (now 9,7, & 4) have been in the 3's or K transition classes. The teacher's are friendly and very organized. Each month they send home a detailed newsletter outlining learning concepts and fun activities taking place such as holiday parties or birthday celebrations. One of my kids has food allergies and I feel so comfortable sending him to Salem. The teachers and staff have always taken it very seriously and if they ever have a hesitation or doubt about snacks/activities they always reach out to get my approval. My kids have thrived socially and are very prepared for the routines they can expect when they go to school. It will be sad when our last kiddo "graduates" but we certainly have many happy memories to take with us!
I went to Salem when I was a kid and I am now 28. After my daughter was old enough to start attending there it felt like a no brainer. Salem has always and continues to be a great child care center. My daughter enjoys going there everyday and LOVES all of her teachers. Another great benefit to Salem is the price. I do not have a single complaint about this center and would recommended it to anyone and everyone who is looking for a smaller, more family like feel for their child vs. a center where they are just another number.
Salem is fantastic and will go above and beyond for your child. I had my daughter at another daycare that my employer subsidized. She starting having behavior issues due to poor teachers and a class full of "Future Leaders" and poor communication. I should have put her in Salem as soon as she started having issues, but my husband and I had reservations about the religious aspects of Salem's curriculum. We did my daughter a disservice waiting to move her. Salem got her back on track and ready to thrive in Kindergarten. Cherie and Brenda were fantastic to work with and all the teachers were communitive and responsive. I think Ms. Judy was responsible for a lot of my daughter's improvements and confidence. You should have no hesitation or reservation about Salem Lutheran Children's Center, it takes a village to raise a child and this is a village you will want to be part of.
I happened to come across the negative review below and felt the need to chime in. Our experience at Salem Lutheran Children’s Center has been very positive over the past six years, with all three of our children going through the preschool program. And our experience with transitioning back into school in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the opposite of what was described in the review below. I believe the school’s leaders have been diligent in communicating with us, making our options clear, and giving us choices about how and when to bring our kids back based on our level of comfort. I believe they should be commended for giving families a choice, and also for the decision to NOT harass people about coming back once they have indicated they don’t intend for their child to return. Your can’t expect your child’s spot to remain available once you indicate you don’t intend to return. I think the school - and in particular - the director and assistant director - have done an amazing job creating a learning environment that is positive, fun, and engaging for our kids once they are back in the building. I want to personally thank the staff at Salem Lutheran Children’s Center for giving us exactly that, and for their continued dedication to making this preschool a great option for our community.
