What Parents Say
Saint Philip Lutheran Preschool receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from current parents, who praise the caring staff, joyful learning environment, and strong academic focus with experiential education like nature trips and outdoor camps. One prospective parent expressed concern about the school's lack of responsiveness and willingness to assess a child with learning differences before making enrollment decisions.
Beyond grateful for St Philips! My 3 year old daughter was deeply cared for and loved. There was not a single day she did not want to go to school. There are so many things she learned through songs and many fun educational activities. Thank you for your deep spiritual and educational commitment to the children in Chicago!
My daughter started at St Philip when she was two. Eight years later I’m still thrilled with the education she receives. Learning should be joyful and St Philip definitely makes this happen. The teachers emphasize meaningful, exciting learning. This year she went to a week-long overnight outdoor education camp. Her class has ventured to a local park to explore simple machines in action on the playground. The whole school makes regular treks to the nearby nature center to explore anything from animal life to art in nature. These are the learning experiences she’ll remember for the rest of her life. St Philip is a small school where my child excels academically and socially. Every staff member knows my child and has a relationship with her. There’s an active parent network that plans multiple family events throughout the year. St Philip is a great place and I’m glad I chose it for my child.
Saint Philip has been an absolutely wonderful school for our son to attend. The staff is incredibly professional, welcoming and attentive to our child. They have far exceeded all of our expectations. The teachers have taken the time to know our son intimately, and they do an amazing job of keeping parents engaged in the classroom. The preschool teacher even has a private Instagram account (for parents only) that allowed me to see what fun activities my son was involved in on any given day. On top of all that, their tuition is extremely reasonable. I would absolutely recommend St Philip for a high quality, Christ-centered education.
I can only speak from a prospective family’s point of view. Looks like a beautiful school and being new to the city I’d heard a few good things. However, I never got past the inquiry point about my daughter who is entering 7th grade and has a language processing disorder. Her state test results are at or above average, she’s grown up in mainstream schools and she’s since been happily accepted into another city Lutheran school, but St Philips never even got to the point of meeting and assessing her. I’m all about the right “fit” in a classroom environment, but not sure how you can determine fit without ever meeting the student... feel like I dodged a bullet on this one.
This school is excellent. The staff and teachers all care deeply for the kids and the school has a great facility. Sure it's a little 70's, but they keep their technology up to date and integrate it into the learning for the kids which keeps the learning interactive.
