What Parents Say
These reviews are not for the daycare program but for the YMCA gym facility. Reviewers praise the friendly and professional staff, affordable membership options (especially for EBT/Oregon Health Plan holders), diverse fitness amenities including pool and classes, and welcoming community atmosphere. One parent mentions their son attended preschool there and loved it.
They make swimming in the afternoon as an adult next to impossible if you have any life difficulties. With the large pool locker room closed to adults. You get a private change area but no access to a locker with pool access. If you need to leave a wallet or street clothes somewhere while you swim you are out of luck. Or you can get water across the entire place. So basically telling anyone disabled or without a car to get lost. At a minimum this should be reflected on the schedule. In response to the response below, they have a sign saying you cannot use the locker rooms from 2:30 onward. As they are for family and children from them on. Despite lap swimming still being available. Children being around is no issue.
I wanted to highlight some of the incredible individuals here who I believe make this gym a place that feels like home to me. The gym overall is great, they have a lot of machines and dumbbells up to 100lbs, starting from five I believe. Three squat racks and a good mix of cable equipment as well. If you are into the whole cardio thing, the have a designated area with a really nice variety to choose from. The people to me are what make a gym experience good or bad though, so I wanted to give praise to those who make this place a positive experience for myself and my kids for so many years now. I do not know every individual here personally, but I have had a positive interaction with each one of them at least once. When you look around you, you will see smiles on faces. The front desk individuals always make my day by doing the simple things like remembering your name or not making me wait in line to check in I always appreciate that and I wanted to express that. My kids love this place as well, my son attended preschool here as well and absolutely loved it I certainly recommend it. They have a lot of helpful individuals who can point you in the right direction when you are looking for equipment to use or maybe a safer way to do a movement. I do not know the new gentleman who works there but he seems very sincere and helpful, a very positive individual so also a nice addition to the team. I know a few of them personally enough to call them a friend and that says a lot because you don’t really make connections like that at big gyms. Overall, I think the gym itself is great but what makes it even better are the individuals who work here. I have always thought that since I started working out here and it still holds true. You guys are doing a great job, and I applaud each of you.
This place is amazing it is the perfect place to get a good priced workout or a swim or if you want to just go play basketball. If you receive EBT and or your on Oregon health plan, they pay for most of your membership, I'm not sure if you pay 6 or 12 dollars a month after it's all said and done. They have everything at this place. Showers even for after you're done. Everything. Now that it's becoming fall going into winter it's a good thing to have an indoor place to work out or just play, since you know who wants to go outside when it's 30°and workout or play basketball. Check it out. Oh it's also the perfect place to bring your kids.
Great job to the young man at the welcome center today. I had to use the restroom but my membership was up so he kindly told me that since they are a state regulated Preschool too I had to have a member ship to use the bathroom. I'm impressed. That is awesome. It was around 330 pm to management. He is a keeper. Thank you for keeping our kiddos safe.
The YMCA in Medford has got to be the worst one I’ve been to in Oregon—by far. Yes, they’ve added some newer equipment, and it looks like there have been a few attempts at updates, but it still feels like you’ve stepped into a facility from the early 1900s. The building is outdated, dim, and just has a rundown vibe that no amount of new machines can hide. The layout is awkward, and the place doesn’t flow well at all. It feels cramped and poorly designed, especially compared to other YMCAs in the state, which tend to be much more modern, welcoming, and better maintained. This one feels like it’s barely holding together. And to top it off, for some reason, guys in wet swimming shorts are constantly cutting through the main workout gym instead of using the pool’s designated locker room. It’s uncomfortable, unhygienic, and just adds to the overall sense of disorganization. At this point, the place doesn’t just need another renovation—it needs to be completely torn down and rebuilt. I honestly can’t believe it’s still operating like this. Medford deserves better.
