What Parents Say
Rocking Horse Day Care has highly polarized reviews. Positive reviews praise caring staff, educational activities, and child development progress. Negative reviews cite inadequate supervision, food insufficiency, sanitary issues, unprofessional front desk staff, and serious concerns about child safety and behavioral changes.
Moving to Porter TX was an exciting yet scary experience since we were moving far away from family. I immediately was relief after placing my (back then 5 year old) daughter into Rocking Horse Day Care Center under the supervision of Mr. Jimmy Verron. His team is overall caring and made sure I was up to date with any issues that came up (a few here and there) and were always willing to problem solve. My daughter enjoyed the after school program and all the fun activities they planned during the summer time. If and when we decided to grow our family, I will not hesitate to bring my new born to them in the future. I will forever be grateful to Mr. Jimmy and his team.
Before starting here my son (4) was not writing his name or numbers, he was completely uninterested in learning but now after a few months he is writing his name and numbers. His behavior has changed in a positive way, more social and more articulate. I Couldn't be more pleased with Rocking horse Porter. The staff is very nice and always smiling, a big plus. The one thing I will say is my sons morning teacher is very interactive with the children and communicative but the lady in the afternoon does not seem as engaged with the kids and seems a bit stressed (But in my opinion that is understandable), she is not rude or anything negative like that. Overall great establishment.
Absolutely love the teachers! They are always willing to work with you and accommodate to any changes you'll like. They get to swim in the summer and have a lot of activities in the rooms. They do not charge extra for supplies and my daughter loves it there. They potty trained my daughter at the age of 2 within the first month she was there. ASHLEY is so nurturing and amazing with the kids! Definitely would recommend! The only downfall is the food but you can take lunch with some attitude from the lunch lady but she'll grow on you. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR RECIEPTS!! UNLESS YOUR GOING TO GET OVER CHARGE
We enrolled our child there because of the convenient location and reasonable fees ($115) but we only used them a couple of weeks because of inadequate care. 1) Negative supervision, structure, and behavioral mentorship. Something is lacking because kids frequently get into fights. One of the parents even complained that his daughter had bite marks. 2) Lacking management and care. They don't structure the kids to eat appropriately because my child was always famished when I picked up. The staff was talking about the state threatening them because they're not ordering enough milk and food for the amount of kids that are enrolled. 3) Unsanitary. They have a bug problem. Get used to seeing your child come home with bites. 4) Lacks instructional engagement, not enough staff. They claim to do classwork but they don't. Kids spend majority of their day watching TV. Kids are sometimes left in the rooms alone because they're frequently short staffed. After transferring my child to a Kingwood academy, I realized what an injustice I did to my child using Rockinghorse; so much negative behavior developed because of that place. After a week at another daycare, you realize quickly the big differences between a babysitting place such as Rockinghorse, and highly professional places, that actually hire child development specialists.
We brought a third generation here with my daughter and I have nothing but positive things to say! Nice staff, accommodating, and my daughter does super well here given her age (9 mos) love this place!
