What Parents Say
Rising Star Learning Center receives mixed reviews with stark differences in parent experiences. Positive reviewers praise staff professionalism, strong parent-teacher communication, and child learning outcomes, while negative reviewers report strict policies, lack of empathy, dismissive management, and frequent requests to pick up children. The center appears highly dependent on parental engagement and director-parent compatibility.
Please do not send your child to this daycare. If I could give them a 0 star rating I would. I was told my child could not stay for the day on Monday because his bag with his belongings were not takin home to be washed on Friday. That being because my child was absent on Friday. Ever since I stopped taking my child to this daycare because I am a working parent and do not have time for providers who lack empathy for children. Seems to me like they’re only there for a paycheck. They will find any and every petty reason as to why your child can’t stay in they’re care. I have also noticed that some of the employees have children in the daycare or are related to the children they care for… which is WHY they choose favoritism towards some of the children they are caring for.
There are way better daycares that will care for your child and try to work things out If there is a issue. When you actually care about what you do it shows in the way you care for parents, kids and staff don’t waste your time at this school kids should never be treated like they are disposable. The Director is truly disrespectful and don’t listen And Extremely dismissive, the policies are ridiculously strict. They send your child home over. EVERYTHING. i was getting calls almost every week to pick up my kid. It was always something. The problem could have been handled with a simple sit down talk. The director handled the situation totally unprofessional screaming outside like a mad man calling ppl names when all I wanted do was get a understanding and for them to understand my position and it was dismissed. I only spoken to the director that one time. The I only dealt with Ms. Tiffany and she is great all the teachers are wonderful it’s just the director.
When a parent complains about a situation, why not try to make it better other then, throwing the child or children out of the center. Every other day the staff was sending my grandson home and he could not return to the center without a Doctors note. Kids also has allergies just like adults. To keep sending a child home for a runny nose does not make sense. Use universal pro-caution. The children are home more then they are in school, when this center is getting paid for their services.
Having grown up in this daycare I am thoroughly appreciative of the manner in which the staff set me up to move forward in different academic settings. The relationships made between the staff and the parents is one of the most appreciated aspects of the school. You will always be cognizant of what’s going on with your kids and how they are progressing in the environment WITH an action plan to get them to the level they should be at. I look forward to starting my child’s educational journey here at Rising Star.
When enrolling your child in this school KEEP IN MIND THAT ITS A CENTER in Newark NJ so most of the time your not gonna see things that you would see in Nutly Centers or Montclair. Self own center and they do try there best to work with what they have. As a parent it’s your job to engage in certain activities they might put on the table for example Like school tips. Helping out makes a BIG DIFFERENCE and you start to appreciate the place more. What can you do to make not only where your child goes to school but other students that go there, what can you do to make that experience for them the staff and most important your child better. I enrolled my child at this school and at first I wasn’t sure but once I engaged in the parent meeting, class trips and helped out when I could. I felt like I was apart of the family. I felt like this center can be better then how everyone views it. My child comes home and she knows her animals and the sounds they make. She knows her letters and colors. She knows the days of the week and foods we eat. She knows snow and leafs. She knows feelings and numbers. NOW AS A PARENT it’s up to me to take that lesson home and educate her more! Bring some ideas to the table for the center. They are very friendly and they compromise with you. It has its ups and downs like any other school , center or daycare. If you don’t have the time and patience this place isn’t for you. If you don’t have an open mind, this place isn’t for you. And yes I GET IT sometimes it’s hard and you don’t have time, I’m a parent myself. And that’s understandable but if you can’t meet these needs that Raising Star have , that place isn’t for you and that’s okay there is planet of other centers in Newark or other towns that can help.
