Very nice people but this is really more of a Civic Association than a church. Not a member of any Baptist convention so I believe the word “Baptist” is more of a name than a description of the doctrine. Very political leaning sermons, and “doing justice” as described in the mission statement doesn’t make sense - unsure how they’re considered an exempt religious organization with teachings leaning hard toward “political rally” type speech.
Ravensworth Baptist Church is full of smart, loving people who are committed to expanding their understanding of God. They truly embody the church's slogan: Sharing love, doing justice, building community. I have been a member of this church since childhood, first attending in person and now virtually since I have moved out of the state. I have not found another church that nourishes my mind, heart, and soul the way Ravensworth Baptist does. I am now a regular member of two Sunday school classes, which I am fortunate to be able to attend over Zoom. I am challenged intellectually and spiritually but always deeply respected and encouraged. No matter your religious background, sexuality, gender identity, race, etc., you will truly be welcomed and affirmed for your full humanity and individuality at this church.
Ravensworth Baptist Church (RBC) has been my church home for 60 years. My family moved from Georgia and visited many churches before choosing RBC as our permanent home. I feel so very fortunate to have my faith journey supported by such a loving congregation where I was allowed, and very much encouraged, to develop my own spiritual journey and never be afraid to ask questions along the way. I raised my family here as well for these reasons. It is a safe place to study the bible, welcome strangers, develop outreach in the community and worship God. All are welcome in this Christian community.
I've been a member of this wonderful church for about 15 years, and have witnessed the good this church brings to the community. This church is open to all, as is God's word. Jesus taught that the two greatest commandments were to: “'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.” Ravensworth Baptist Church practices this, while many churches do not. Highly recommend RBC.
