I've had 2 children attend the Aurora, IL facility within the last 13 years. I've never encountered a problem with them. The Aurora staff has always shown professionalism, care for the children, they have always been kind and friendly, and most important shown humanity towards the parents. As a single mom - those qualities are golden! Anyhoo!!! Moving along.... So I moved to Chicago to be closer to family and recently had a baby. Due to previous interaction with Rachel's learning center in Aurora, IL, I was all too thrilled to find out they had centers in Chicago. Well... Chicago staff is not like Aurora IL staff. 80% of the time you can’t get in touch with anyone on the phone. Which worries me in terms of being able to check in on my child day by day. 2nd- The enrollment staff has this really nasty attitude. I didn't feel like I was being talked too like an adult! More like told what to do- like a child!!! The facility seems to be heavily reliant on the Action for children subsidy. They act as if you’re getting something for free and you should be grateful with no say so! Subsidy is a choice – not mandated! It is help and it is my decision on how I would like to precede or even take the help! This particular enrollment staff wanted to get the papers just right for approval instead! Call me crazy- but wouldn't getting to know the individual circumstance be more important! For instance- what if I’m denied subsidy!!! Can I afford child care??? This question was never asked of me. It should be a choice on if I would even like to apply! A normal business transaction would consist of verifying billing for tuition instead of assuming. NOPE!!! That didn't happen. Instead- they wanted to chance it!!! Due to the rudeness and ignorance that I have experienced, I was contemplating taking my child elsewhere. But because I know the root of this business, and Ms. Rochelle is a wonderful person. I’m going to reach out to upper management and see if we can find a solution. On a different level, as feedback to the enrollment department in Chicago, I would like to say: Communication is a big part of your position. Don't assume that "all" finances are dependent upon your chance taking. Some of us actually take responsibility for our lively hood
