What Parents Say
Pueblo School District No. 60 receives mixed reviews with praise for individual teachers but significant criticism of district administration and policies. Parents highlight concerns about pandemic response, bullying prevention, mental health support, budgeting priorities, and safety decisions, while commending classroom instruction quality.
It’s just sad. They say they’re doing it for the kids, so they shut down DHPH and other charter schools but the truth is, they want the kids back in their district because they’re so poorly run that families leave whenever they can. It’s really disappointing, because those three schools have been good for the westside neighborhood. I expect D60 will end up buying the nicer buildings, since they can’t seem to maintain their own. Time will tell, I guess.
District 60 is the worst district. Their test scores speak for themselves but in case they don't, just talk to any parent or student that have had to endure district 60. (Particularly the administration) Would not recommend. Edit- I noticed PAA (Pueblo academy of arts, formerly Pitts) has turned off their reviews. So I would like to add here, that PAA is the worst school in the district and a large portion of why I decided to leave this review in the first place. Send your kids anywhere else!
Some decent teachers , but a lot of bully like behavior they turn a blind eye to, including in the special needs program but love to follow the dress code constantly…what about the safety of your students? Absolutely unexplainable, and for the last 5 years or so they act like it cost them money out their pocket to delay or cancel for the day.. the news said they will get frostbite out there so be safe.. do you think they have announced a delay by 5:54 ㏂? Nope. Everyone else has though.
My experiences with teachers in this district has been amazing. I have very rarely had a teacher that I felt was doing a bad job. I have been in district 60 my whole life, however, and everything else is a disaster. The administration of district 60 has poorly handled the pandemic. They have useless and ineffective policies for bullying and for student mental health. Their budgeting has never had academics in mind and their use of benchmark testing is ridiculous. It feels to me as though they have always valued the money in their pockets more than the students in their schools.
This year I am not a big fan of there transportation. My son has IEP and they pick up at the door. During the first 6months of school they have changed my son's route 3 times. When children have special needs you really need a consistent schedule. Stop changing routes.
