What Parents Say
Prospect Park YMCA ECC receives consistently positive feedback with a 4.7/5 average rating. Parents praise the friendly, accommodating staff, clean facilities, and excellent aquatics programs with multiple pools. Some concerns exist regarding crowding during peak hours, maintenance responsiveness, and locker room conditions.
I love this YMCA. People are extremely nice and want to help you out. Never had any issue with the service- have actually found the staff and team members to be quite accommodating of me and my young son- and love the classes (for myself and my son). Really great vibe and great options.
My English isn't very good, but the staff were very patient and helpful. And I also enjoyed my first free trial. I think their pools and showers are clean and lifeguards are also very concerned about our swimming conditions.
UPDATE: I canceled my membership. I joined for the pool and have been disappointed. They gate-keep the heated pool, reserving it mainly for adults with children. Adults without kids who can’t do weekday/weekend early mornings can only access the heated pool in the evening for 1.75 hours per week: 1 hour open swim and 45 minutes aqua zumba which is really water aerobics set to music. Also the staff is pretty rude. I will give it another month (which is my free month as part of the sign-up promotion) after posting this review to see if they make more time available weekday evenings and weekends during the day for adults without kids before I cancel my membership.
Main reason I got this membership was for the pools. So it’s extremely disappointing they seem to make no accommodations for working adults who don’t have children. Most swims are family swims for people with kids. It’s hard to get to use the pool because they hardly have any adult swims. When I signed up I had no walk through to learn the building. And I was told to cancel or pause would require a 15 day notice. Absolutely ridiculous. Thinking I may let my membership go because I am not available for the few times they allow adult swim. Seeing as many others complain and they don’t seem to care enough to change it shows they don’t care about customer feedback.
Needs serious renovations. Womens locker room is abysmal. Tepid water from weak water pressure in a cold dreary women's locker room. Also freezing cold is the small pool area leading to the locker room. There is no heat. They make a lot of excuses. It seems an executive review process takes place to solve a simple problem like THERE IS NO SOURCE OF HEAT FOR THE SMALL POOL. the pool heats the room so it is freezing. No thermostat. And the response: someone higher up needs to make a decision. So we have complained for months. No change. It's honestly insulting. They do not fix things without going through a 2 year review process. The facility has gone downhill.
