What Parents Say
Port Washington Children's Center receives mixed reviews with strong praise for teaching staff, activities, and recent leadership improvements, but serious concerns about administration and past incidents. Parents highlight warm, nurturing teachers and beautiful grounds, though some report discomfort with administrative practices and documented regulatory issues.
I’m so happy with our experience at the Children’s Center. Both of my kids go there now, and we couldn’t be more grateful. You can really feel the positive leadership. Christine is so involved in the day-to-day of both programs, and it makes such a difference. The teachers are warm, nurturing, and truly care about the kids. It’s clear the Center is going through a positive transition. I was so glad to see that rates didn’t increase year over year and that summer programming rates were even reduced. You can really tell the new direction is thoughtful and community-focused, especially with all the great events they’ve been hosting. So glad to see this place back in action!
Wish I could give zero stars. The Board is useless if not negligent. They threatened parents for advocating for their kids. And then what happened? Well theres no longer waitlists. And the classes arent filled up anymore. And staff is still leaving. Why? The internet will tell you with a quick search. Just check the reports on OCFS and the employment satisfaction websites. Theres documented incidents with corporal punishment and lost kids and think about how many incidents they dont report or lie about.
My child loved Port Washington’s Children’s Center. He was there for three years, had much fun and learned a lot. His teacher Bernadette was a standout. The grounds are beautiful and all facets of the school are well run.
The teachers are tremendous - we had Miss Natalie and Miss Leah in Dolphins. However, the administration leaves a lot to be desired - we unfortunately cannot go into detail, but no longer feel comfortable sending our child to the school.
Great daycare facility for preschool kids. Lots of activities, great staff. And the hours are good for parents that work past 5.
