What Parents Say
Pooh's Corner receives highly polarized reviews, with most parents praising caring staff, good communication, and child development support. However, recent reviews cite management issues including sudden staff terminations, last-minute closures, and families being asked to leave with little notice.
My wife and I have four children that have been cared for by Pooh’s Corner since 2019. Our children have always received excellent care, and the communication from the teachers and directors has always been great. We live in a time where many (most) businesses struggle to find and retain employees. Pooh’s is no different, but I respect that the directors make decisions that they think are best for our children. Please don’t let some very recent negative reviews deter you from placing your children in their care, as those individuals aren’t being truthful.
I have had/have both of my children in this program since they are 8 weeks old. The staff have been amazing, supportive and have taught my kids many things. My son has required supportive services which they caught, and allowed me for early interventions. My daughter regressed in potty training after a long hospital stay but they were there, patient and supportive, helping get her back on track with advice. Like every other workplace in today’s world, they have staffing challenges but they have been taking it with grace, and they communicate with families any issues that arise as soon as they are aware! I highly recommend Pooh’s!
We have enrolled both of our children here since they were a few months old. The teachers have been amazing, truly caring about our kids and our family, and the directors have been open and communicative from the start. Other reviews mention issues with the building, but they’re in a state run building so many things are out of their control, which I’m not sure many people realize. Our children are safe and happy and that’s all we can ask. If we have issues with anything, we bring it up to the teachers or the directors and it’s quickly addressed. We are quite happy with our choice in daycare.
Our daughter has been in the Toddler class for a couple months now and she's always so happy to walk into her classroom. She gets the chance to do so many great activities and the teachers are wonderful. They have an app to keep track of what goes on during the day for your child (food, potty, activities, nap, communication with staff). And there are also family wide events at the center that we can attend, which have been really fun. We can see that she's thriving and doing amazingly well with her development. Would highly recommend Pooh's Corner!
I want to start off by saying that we have had nothing but good experiences with many of the staff members that our son had over the course of his time at Pooh’s Corner. Unfortunately, the management at Pooh’s Corner has been very poor as of recently. The director does not seem to be stepping up in her role and allows the assistant director to call all the shots. The assistant director seems to have no concerns for families and their childcare needs as he will fire staff for minor things (e.g., being late). I understand these issues may need to be addressed; however, you cannot fire staff and then close rooms the following week for “staffing issues” when you have families relying on you to be open. At least have the courtesy to wait until you have replacement staff before firing someone for a minor issue… Recently, the staffing issues became even more dire and yet again the assistant director fired three staff members because as he put it, “they spoke disrespectfully towards himself and the director.” From my perspective as a parent, this doesn’t seem like reason enough to fire almost your entire staff when you have dozens of families relying on you for care. We were informed on a Tuesday after 8 p.m. that our child was no longer able to be accommodated (effective immediately) at daycare due to the number of staff that were let go. It does seem some families are still able to be accommodated… so why my child/family? I don’t know. Overall, we have always been extremely understanding of any closures that occurred and made no issues of continuing to pay our full weekly fee. But it does make us wonder why our child is one that is being ousted and feels a little bit like favoritism. It’s not coincidence that the recent 5-star reviews are from the families that are continuing to be accommodated at the daycare. At this point in time, I could not in good faith recommend this daycare to anyone as the management needs to change.
