What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise Phyllis Bodel Childcare Center for its safe, stimulating, and professionally-run environment with exceptional staff. Children show strong enthusiasm for attending, demonstrating significant developmental growth across motor skills, emotional regulation, and social development. The center is noted for high teacher retention, low teacher-to-child ratios, and enriching activities.
We’ve had both children go through Bodel South for a total of 4-years so far, and we couldn’t be more excited and grateful for having found such a safe, stimulating, and professionally-run environment. The teacher retention is remarkable - which I think speaks in and of itself - and the playground is like some hidden gem oasis in the middle of Southern New Haven. We still commute in even though we’ve moved nearly 30-minutes away because nothing can compare with the childcare experience we’ve had with Bodel South. 🙏
Our daughter has absolutely loved her time at Bodel. We had to transfer her to a different center for a year (for external reasons) and all she could talk about was going back. All the staff have been wonderful and we will be starting our second child there shortly. Could not be more satisfied with the experience.
Our son’s experience at Phyllis Bodel has been so much more wonderful and formative than we could have ever expected! We (and our son) are so excited every day to bring him into school, because we know that he feels like the teachers, administrators, and all his classroom friends are like his family. He has learned so much in his classroom (gross and fine motor skills, emotional expression and regulation, communication, and socialization) beyond what we could have shown him in this past year, and we are so fortunate that he has had this time with such loving educators. We know this time in his class will have far-reaching positive impacts on him developmentally, emotionally, and socially for years to come. We love the school and classroom's emphasis on individual children's needs, their patience and consideration, and their creative activities in the classroom! Anyone would be so lucky to bring their children here!
We enrolled our daughter at Bodel when she was 2 years old, and will be sad when she ages out of the program next year. The teachers are exceptional: They ensure the kids have a structured day while maintaining choices about play, organize inventive and enriching activities, and help kids work through conflicts and develop emotional regulation in constructive ways. The high teacher-to-kid ratio in classes means staff are able to provide appropriate attention to everyone without being overwhelmed. Because of the supportive environment created by staff, the kids form tight bonds with their classmates, and it's been wonderful to see them growing and learning together. I'd recommend Bodel to anyone.
We have had our daughter at Bodel for around a year now in the infant-toddler room and could not be happier with her experience there. The teachers there are universally wonderful, caring people who are educated in child development and it shows. They have enriching, interesting things for her to do every day. They feed her healthy, home cooked snacks every day. She has learned an incredible amount in her time there. She loves going and often runs in every day when we drop her off. I can't say enough good things about Bodel, if you are able to send your child here, do it.
