I was here to bring my patient for Therapy while on vacation in Maine. Before going to Maine I did some preplanning and glad I did. I picked this location being the services my patient would require. This location is a perfect place for handicap people to be able to do Physical Therapy. The staff is courteous and very professional. As I walked in the door I was greeted and welcomed as if I had been here before. I explained to the clerk what it was I was seeking and he was ready to direct me to the location. He listened to my needs and then transferred me to another staff member. This employee was just as courteous as the last one. Taking me on a tour of the place and explained everything in detail. He also assured me if there were any issues feel free to contact him. The lifeguards were outstanding and professional too. Thank you YMCA for all that you stand for my patient was able to continue with Therapy even while on vacation.
Good facilities. Expensive, with no programs for those who struggle financially.
Nice gym. Say hi to John who is one of the trainers there. He gave me great advice on how to do abs. Had all the equipment I needed and all in good repair. This is the first Y where they charged me 10 dollars. All others were free, though still a bargain. I never did find the sauna as it wasn’t in the locker area. Locker facilities large and clean. I even got Whitney to smile. Finally be careful when parking. There is one way in and one way out.
The Y offers a decent gym for those who need a workout convenient to Camden/ Rockport. The staff and visitors are friendly. Whitney greets me every morning with a smile. The size of the fitness area really stunts the facility. This is even more clear when they have high school sports training during convenient before work hours for us 9-5ers. These trainings often leave half of the workout area unusable which can be frustrating especially as the trainer doesn’t put away equipment after they use them. Moving these trainings timing or picking up after each workout would go a long way.
The YMCA itself, is very great. The facility is very clean and they offer a large amount of programs here. They have two pools. One therapy pool that occasionally with have free swim and another large pool that is primary for laps. They do offer different classes in the pool as well as different events. They have gymnastics here which is great if you are a local and want your kid to learn gymnastics. They have a basketball court that also offers different variety of activities. The court does appear to be a little beat up but other than that is isn't too bad. The lockers rooms have recently been updated and they look and feel nice. Disclaimer: Going into the boys locker room, do expect plenty of male nudity. If you aren't into that, go to the family locker room. Family locker room also has personal showers in each room. They have a rock climbing wall which is great. The only down fall of the rock wall is I feel the schedule isn't consistent and staff are pretty random at showing up. The work out gym is very nice and offers lots of different weights. They have an indoor track as well as an assortment of treadmills and more. The gym can fill up during the PM so it can sometimes feel crowded. They have lots of youth programming here which is awesome. The child care is a great program and they can keep children mega safe. The camps are great however staff aren't always consistent. The front desk as well as management at this YMCA could use a little more positive thinking and less stress. Some times the politics here are a little stoopid and can make some decisions that aren't great. Overall, this place is great and worth checking out!
