I pray this church has changed since the years I grew up there. As a teenager, it was one of the hardest experiences of my life. I was taught to praise people instead of learning the heart of Jesus. The focus was fear-hell, the devil, and scare-tactics used as "salvation." Because of that, the true message of Christ was missed. Jesus came to us as a child to break empty religion, not to reinforce it. He came to save, to love, to draw us near-not to terrify us. As a child, I wish I had been taught who He really is. I wish I had known His love instead of feeling afraid and confused. But I give God all the glory. He met me Himself. He ministered to me directly, healed my church hurt, and erased the pain and false teachings. My relationship with Him today is living proof that Jesus saves, restores, and reveals Himself beyond any building or denomination.
