What Parents Say
Overland Hills Christian Childcare receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from most parents who praise the caring staff, engaging activities, and spiritual education. However, one parent with an autistic child reported three safety incidents within three days including a choking incident, an escape attempt, and a window cord hazard, along with concerns about inadequate supervision and unavailable specialized staff.
Our daughter has been at Overland Hills for 2 years now and we are very very happy with the level of care she gets. Our daughter seems to really like all her teachers and they seem to really care about her as an individual. I can't give them thanks for the service they have provided as sending your little one off for someone else to look after can be nerve racking. Obviously, accidents happen with little ones but the issues have been few and far between and when there is an issue they are overly communicated and handled very well. Overall, both myself and my wife are very happy with Overland Hills and can't imagine finding a place that offers any better service.
Absolutely fantastic childcare! The staff truly cares about the kids and they always have such fun activities for the kids to complete. The facility is large too, with a gym and multiple playgrounds so they never get bored. I loved having all 3 of my boys go here and would highly recommend it.
Our boys were loved and cared for at the daycare and preschool. Ms Jess changed our son’s life with her care and attention. Thankful for the spirit of the Lord in that place!
Katherine, It sounds like from your perspective this is a horrible place, but I have a much different opinion that I truly feel I should share as well. My children have been there for about 3 years and we love it. They are loved, cared for and get to to know about the love, grace and mercy of God every day. I heard nothing but wonderful things about them, but I did do my own research as well and even more after reading this alarming post. I am not trying to downplay your situation as I am not aware of what happen, but some of your information is not correct and it would not be fair to persuade others to turn away from a good institution under false pretenses. Mrs. Wendi is the preschool teacher and is not actually listed on their website or in any handbooks that I have as an OT and Autism specialist. I fear you are mistaken in that comment. Also, depending on when your son was in their care, she may not have been working. My son is in the preschool program and they don't have preschool in the summer so if it was during the summer, she would have been off. As far as cords on the windows, plenty of people have cords on blinds in their homes. I don't think Overland Hills should be considered a poor place to go because of cords being on their windows coverings (granted they should be out of reach of kids). I am sure having a child with special needs is very trying for you as parents and choosing a childcare for a child with special needs must be very difficult as well, but I do not see anywhere in my research where Overland Hills was deemed a special needs facility. I am not sure what type of care your were expecting or were promised, but I have a hard time (at least with my experience) believing that the children are not being watched. Not every child is going to have 100% eyes on supervision 100% of the time. That is an unreasonable expectation. You don't even get that in the public school and preschool system. Honestly, we as parents don't even achieve that either. So I feel some grace should be given in regards to nobody watching the kids. I feel that comment may be emotionally stated and not completely accurate. I think all opinions are important both good and bad. Your opinion encouraged me to take a deeper look into Overland Hills, and I still truly feel that Overland Hills is a good place. I am not saying that this child care and preschool is best in the whole wide world and never makes mistakes , but I will say that I am very pleased with them.I also agree with you that everyone should pray about where they are planning to enroll their child. It's a big decision and there are not many quality childcare facilities in the area. Hopefully people will consider all the comments and references about Overland Hills when considering where to take their children.
This is by far the best place to send your children. I was very uncomfortable with sending my son to daycare but everyone here truly loves the kids and I know that he is being taken care of well. A very passionate caring group of people. I can never thank them enough for taking care of my son.
