What Parents Say
OORAH INC. receives consistently high praise as a well-organized, mission-driven organization with genuine care for families and community. Parents highlight the warm, welcoming atmosphere, respectful staff, and meaningful programming. Reviews reflect positive experiences across various programs and activities.
This organization is the absolute worst. I have been involved in a few of their programs. I have found their mentors to be "unethical" and they discriminate against neurodiverse teenagers. They sent my son a letter stating they had no room for him in their Shteiger's program and they could not accept everyone. The next day he "erroneously" received an email describing how they have many spots. When I called to confirm, "Daniella" said he was not supposed to receive that email. I called and asked for clarification, never received it. They are not interested in Kiruv. It's the type of organization that wants clones. I almost sent my other son to their camp and I dodged a real bullet with these people. With Tish B'Av being this weekend, these people should reflect why we are still in the galut.
Oorah is one of those organizations that you can feel the impact of the second you walk in the door. There’s a real sense of purpose — like everyone there is on a mission, but still with that warm, heimish “you matter” vibe that makes you feel comfortable right away. What stands out most is the heart. Whether you’re dealing with staff, volunteers, or just calling with a question, you’re treated with patience and respect. No attitude, no rushing you off the phone, just genuine menschlichkeit. It’s clear they care deeply about Klal Yisroel and about helping families in a real, practical way — not just big words and nice brochures. And honestly, the work they do is massive. Between their programming, outreach, and everything they’re involved in, you can tell this isn’t a “small side thing.” It’s organized, professional, and run with a level of integrity that’s refreshing. The place feels well-managed, and the whole experience gives you confidence that your time, support, or involvement is going to something meaningful. Bottom line: Oorah is the kind of organization that makes you proud. Big-hearted, well-run, and truly making a difference — the kind of place you’re happy to recommend to anyone looking for real community impact with real warmth.
Great place to chap a mincha ;)
Used to come here back in my youth to buy from the soda machine and snack machine. Had fun with the parrot and the Pac-Man machine as well.
Great organization!
