Inexpensive but equipment is well used and facilities a little run down First off I only used the four exercise and weight rooms. I did not use the pool or any other facilities. Cardio room:. The cardio room was actually pretty up-to-date and modern( see pictures). Most of the machines were relatively new, clean, and indecent condition Weight machine room: extremely old cybex equipment (see pictures). Not a lot of machines maybe 15 in total. So not a lot of options and since the machines were pretty old a lot of them did not have a means to reconfigure for different size people. Weight room (dumbbells and barbells):. Again also very dated (see pictures). If you're like me and have a bit of OCD with your plates it's very difficult to find the matching plates as there's probably three or four different brand plates to match up. So you kind of have to look around the room to find the matching plate for each size. Also I found the decline bench non-configurable and a bit large with no way to reconfigure. The dumbbells were missing a few sizes so you either had to jump up by 5 lb or do more reps. Cross fit room:. You'll have to look at my pictures for this one as I only briefly spend some time in here Overall you can't beat the price as it was $3 for why members, free for Y national members and who knows how much if you don't already have a Y membership. For me however, if you plan on doing resistance training and not cardio I would have rather spent the $15 to go to a newer gym down the road (Table Rock). If you only plan on doing cardio or swimming this might be the right place for you.
First off, What TALENT these Competitors Have! My Husband and I went to my Cousins Gymnastics Meet 🤸♀️ We really enjoyed watching all the kids Do their thing! Some of the kids That do Gymnastics Blew My Husband and I from the Water! We enjoyed watching all the teams come together and support each other. The Teamwork we saw that night was impeccable. You can Tell the Trainers/Instructors care about these Kids. Not just What happens at the gym and at the Y, but outside of The Y. The Teachers always support, listen and go the distance for their Athletes. So many times I have showed up there and the coaches were giving support and helping the kids learn their skill. I appreciate how they praise the Kids and Point out how well they did. The Gym is in pretty good shape. And the Equipment is Tended to regularly. It’s clean, not broken, and staff trains the child fully to be mature and to treat equipment with Respect. We Love the Little Events and shows they put on. It’s really a great opportunity to see what the kids have Learned and to see how much they are succeeding! The concession stand was pretty great too! 😉 ——————————————————————————— My Recommendations: •Whatever your event may be, Get there 20 minutes early or so, BEFORE event begins so you can find parking. Most parking has a 1-4 hour Limit. ____________________________________________________________ Pros: -Great Environment for Kids of all Ages! -AMAZING & PATIENT Instructors. -Community Involvement -Clean -Safe Equipment -Cool Community Events and Opportunities Cons: N/A Thank you to the Oneonta YMCA!!
When I was younger I used to go there play basketball and met a lot of new people and very friendly people used to be on River Street the last time I knew still a great place I enjoyed it
If you’re looking for a swim workout don’t come here. Extremely rude. Lifeguard asked if I had a reservation, said no but I drove an 1 1/2 round trip to get here. Lifeguard said go ahead and get in we’ll work it out. Person with reservation showed up and said “you need to get out”. Tried to explain that I spoke with the lifeguard about sharing the lane and that I’m working with kids in all the libraries in the area. Person with the reservation said, “ I don’t need to hear your story. I work with kids too. I don’t care you need to get out”. Then the lifeguard came over and said “you need to get out”. Extremely rude. I thought to myself “you work kids? Perhaps you should reconsider that one. Our kids need to be taught more about kindness and cooperation than what you are presenting here. Just share the lane. Isn’t that after all what the YMCA is all about? I go to YMCA’s all across the country. I Will never return to this one.
Clean gym, great value and many machines available. Early morning spin class was top notch, focused on form - in surprised more people don’t taken advantage of it! Centrally located with lots of parking. Check it out!
