One Step Ahead Daycare

Absolutely highly recommended facility! My son has been there for over a year and he has truly developed both socially and academically. And the best part is the performance arts aspect, it truly sparks a light in the children

So I reached out to the Newark Penn Plaza location to inquire about services for my son. I first spoke to the director, expressing what I was looking for. She advise to come in and do a tour and I’ll get pricing. Went in for the tour got the prices and was told he could start as soon as I would like him to. I had additional questions because my son was recently diagnosed with autism. Once that was expressed I was told that I would need to meet with the director in person, herself with my son present so she can asses weather he would be a good fit to actually attend. I was told given a meeting time for that following Thursday. No one called or reached out. I then called later the next week and was told I’ll get a call again later that afternoon and still NO CALL. At this point it seems as if this center is no longer interested in providing services because the child is autistic. WHAT A SHAME. I will say that during the tour the establishment was clean and the staff appeared to be friendly and nice.

Having to select a childcare provider once maternity leave ends can be very anxiety producing... I knew I had to contact someone with a proven track record. That person was Miss Marlene or as I affectionately call her, Sis Marlene. Sis Marlene & I used to attend the same church many years ago. As a child/young teen, I had great affinity & respect for her. She was one of the people I, as a youth, felt safe & comfortable with & looked forward to spending time with. She was always real, faith-filled, honest, hilarious but serious about business, unapologetically advocated for what was right & had a true heart for children/youth. I recall how serious she took her business even in the earlier years, still in her basement. So decades later, when it came time to choose a childcare center to entrust with my own child, OSA was my first choice. Several other church youth I grew up with who are now adult parents have also entrusted their children into Sis. Marlene's care; that speaks volumes on the impression she made in our lives... As an teacher, myself, I had no regrets. Ms. Marlene takes her calling to this work seriously & strives to serve in excellence. Ms. Paula, Ms. Bernita, Ms. Ross & the other teachers in the infant/toddler classes were phenomenal. They showed up each day & gave the children love, care, attention, patience & energy. I felt comfortable trusting them with my baby. On my son's last day, I fought back tears bc they've been so instrumental & have become extended family. I wholeheartedly recommend this school & they will be my first stop when I have another baby! ❤️

Ms. Marlene, the Director, has done an excellent job bringing her vision for this school to reality. My son love this school and his teachers. The place is clean. The classrooms are well decorated and equipped with everything the scholars need to learn. There are By far some of the most respectable and genuine people I’ve met are working for this organization. I am rooting for all things One Step Ahead and I am excited about what the future holds as my son grows here. I highly recommend One Step Ahead

If your looking for a Daycare/school for your precious little one. One step ahead is the place for you, My daughter has learnt so much going to this daycare she knows her ABC’s counting from 1-10 at just 22 months , the staff and the Director is amazing!!! They take care of the kids really well! The space is so clean ,I would highly recommend this daycare 10/10 . Love this place .
