We have been members now for almost 25 years. Even though other options are available, we have stayed with the Y due to the value provided and the welcoming family atmosphere. Staff is friendly and helpful. The equipment is always kept in good working order. The facility is maintained well with yearly upkeep. The Olympic size swimming pool is huge! There are activities and programs for every taste. Overall, we highly recommend the Middleboro YMCA.

We have a backyard pool, and I’ve seen far too many news reports about young kids accidentally falling into pools or getting into water that’s too deep — and not being able to get out. My goal was to give my child the skills to survive if that ever happened. What I didn’t realize going in — and wish had been made clearer — is that these recreational water acclimation lessons. The focus is on helping kids feel comfortable in the water — which is valuable, but very different from teaching the survival skills that could help a child self-rescue in an emergency. There is little emphasis on floating. No emphasis on finding the pool wall, or navigating out of deep water. If your goal is the same as mine was — giving your child life-saving skills should they accidentally fall into water — this program may not be the right fit. Overall, I think the YMCA program is a great introduction to the water, the instructors are kind, but it is not a substitute for actual water safety or rescue training. I hope this helps another parent set the right expectations going in.

This is our first time sending our girls to this camp. My daughter can be very anxious around new activities and staff have been highly sensitive to her needs. She has made so much progress since starting and is able to participate in activities such as getting on a horse and into the pool without parent support; these accomplishments mean more than words can express. They wouldn’t have been possible without the staff’s patience and willingness to guide her throughout the day. Staff were quick to communicate when reached out to. We definitely will continue here in the future:)

Having no AC on maybe the hottest day of the year is definitely a choice. Its always nice to see a community gym really focus on the bottom line rather than the experience of the consumer.

The Old Colony YMCA has been a blessing for my family and I. Through the YMCA, My daughter has been able to join her first basketball team and experience rock climbing, my husband utilizes the gym daily with friends along with myself, my younger sister like the exercise bikes that have a screen she can digitally ride on bike paths! We are looking forward to going down to the lake and renting boats for 15$ an hour this summer! Although the already have a swimming pool, the lake sounds great! 😄 The best part of joining the OldColony YMCA is the fact they helped my family get this membership with financial assistance so we could afford the family plan we have. We are truly blessed to have joined the Y in Middleboro. Thank you to the staff for being so helpful and kind to my family. Every staff member has put a smile on my face!
