What Parents Say
Parents report mixed experiences at OCAB Orangeburg Head Start Center. While many praise the safe environment, friendly staff, and quality childcare, others criticize front office customer service, staff attitude inconsistencies, and administrative responsiveness issues.
Just plain out rude. Evaluate your staff. When it comes to asking for help with electric bill or need copies of information that SSI needs to get benefits started you would think they would be glad to help so they wouldn't have to fund anymore for electric. Very very rude supervisor! All of the staff needs to leave the attitude at home or quit your job.
This is for Mr, Wright,I fii out a form for the food voucher, drop my application in the box and never hear back, when I call and inquired about it were treated like I did some things wrong.all I wanted to know if they got my application or not! They must have lost it or just did
My son attended OCAB 2 years ago. This is one of the worst schools ever. I was told my son needed glasses and he has perfect vision. I was also told that my son was showing signs of Autism. I told them and the school district to go to....! Now my son is an excellent student and he had the highest reading map scores in his class. His grades are great and he's well on his way! Parents please beware when sending your children to OCAB because all the staff does is talk about how poor some of the parents are and not doing their job!
I don't know exactly who's running this site but I would recommend they reevaluate there staff. I did an application to get my daughter signed up for their four year old program and at the time of completing my application I specifically asked the gentleman who was handling my paperwork would she have to be put on a waiting list (application was done somewhere around first or second week of July) and he specifically told me no she was fine and judging from my application pretty much accepted I just needed to wait for my "offical" letter. Well here it is nearly three weeks before the start of school and no letter. I had been calling since laat week to see why I hadn't recieved anything yet and was finally directed to a very rude lady at the Orangeburg center. I tried to explain to her what I was told and received an attitude from the beginning with this woman from the tone of her voice to the choice of wording she chose to use. Needless to say I was JUST informed my daughter had been put on there waiting list which is fine but, in my opinion, the professional thing to do was at least send me a letter letting me know if she was accepted or not instead of having me waiting all this time leaving me in the blind now having to scramble to find a school to get my daughter placed at. I was already given not so good reviews of this center but decided to still enroll her and form my opinion. Well I now have it and rest assured I too will be one of those parents speaking against OCAB head start Orangeburg center.
Could do a lot better in the energy assistance department. They "supposedly" let all the apps build up and when you call to see what's going on or get an update the staff is very curt, dismissive and backhanded about it.Even if you are not approved that information should be given.Over the phone they claim it's over a thousand applications yet when you drop it in you can hear how damn airy the bin is.If I can be told over the phone it's people with their lights off it means that they put certain people ahead of others versus just being direct and saying we can't approve your app or for whatever reason we've denied your application.
