What Parents Say
Oak Park Building Blocks receives overwhelmingly positive feedback for caring, professional staff who provide educational activities and maintain strong parent communication through daily photo/video updates. However, recent management concerns have emerged regarding director availability, classroom ratios during drop-off, and responsiveness to parent concerns.
Oak Park Building Blocks is the absolute best there is for your children. They CARE. They keep you updated. They take your child's safety very seriously. They have an app that sends pics and videos of your children throughout the day so you can watch these wonderful people make your kids smile. We've moved a few times and have had experience with other care givers. OPBB has been the most loving, communicative and helpful to our family. Thank you for all that you do!
Our son has been attending OPBB for almost a year and we could not be more comfortable and happy with this daycare! As a new mom with my first child, nothing gave me more anxiety than knowing I was going to have put my trust in others to love and care for my son as I would myself. After picking him up from the first day, I knew we had found the right place! These teachers and this establishment truly care about these kids and they not only provide spectacular care but they involve the kids in educational activities such as art, music, motor skills, etc. Our experience has been nothing but love, respect, and professionalism with OPBB.
My daughter has been going to Oak Park Building Blocks for about four months now. I’m very happy with this daycare and am so thankful I found this place. All of the teachers seem to genuinely care for my daughter and all the children in their care. This daycare also provides a variety of educational activities including art, music, reading stories, outside play and more for all ages. It gives me such peace that I have found such a great place where my daughter can learn, play and grow and where she is also loved and well taken care of.
OPBB is a wonderful, safe, and loving place filled with staff who are passionate about children. It feels like leaving your kids with extended family. I am also very impressed with the lesson plans and creative activities that are aimed at developing the whole child - mentally, emotionally, physically. The school also makes an effort to plan events that parents can participate in to build community. We feel grateful and blessed to be a part of the OPBB family.
Unfortunately I have to update my review to reflect my experiences in the past few months. Let me start by saying the teachers are WONDERFUL. They are special and have made my son grow with such happiness in his first year of life. I care for them all and really appreciate all their hard work and the care they show for the kids in the school. The management is a completely different story. The Director team has changed since we started and it is composed of one Director now. She does not show up for her teachers. She arrives when she feels its appropriate everyday (which is after prime drop off hours). The office is always empty. She is also never around during pick up hours. I drop off at 8am and pick up at 4pm. 5 times in the last month (Oct 3, 4, 10, 11, 23rd) we have arrived to drop off and the classroom has been out of ratio. I alert the Assistant Director who was staffed in a room and could not help. It is not her fault, she is a teacher and had no support. I ended up waiting in a room for 30 minutes one day for someone to arrive to help the teacher who had 6 babies alone. The Director was STILL not there when I walked out at 8:40a. I waited to tell her what happened and she was defensive. The response I got was "I cant work open to close everyday and you don't know my life or what is happening with teachers". No, I don't know her life, but I know I am a parent who deserves to have a Director that cares and shows up for the safety of the school. If no one is in the front office, anyone can be buzzed in the building. I messaged her & emailed one morning telling her the classroom was out of ratio. No response. I have voiced my concerns multiple times in the last 4 weeks (via email, through app and in person). My concerns have been met with zero change. The lack of management is sad. The parents love the school, the kids love the school, we all deserve a Director at this school who will be there more and do the job better.
